ok, i've been looking for a set of these for some time now and have been unsuccesful. I need to find 2 sets of ground wires of various colors (yellow and purple). I have inquired, and have been told "i'll look into that." i'm the type of person who when they set their mind to something, they want it now. so, i'm asking if anyone knows of an online store where i can order these. i'm not interested in waiting for a great deal or anything like that. i'm more than willing to pay a fair price just as long as i can order them with confidence knowing that i will receive them in a week or so.

thanx

you could always make them yourself....they're really not hard at all and directions have been posted all over the place.

heheh...k, but seriously, it's a matter of cutting wire, and hammering on connectors. I did it for my bro and myself in like 30 minutes for each set.

the question is: do they have the professional look of retail grounding kits or do they just get the job done, serve their purpose and look generic as hell, or don't look like anything at all

well If you wahnt to pay the extra for the "retail" ones, check out Sun Hyperground wires, the best you can buy, at 100 a set

dude, making a ground kit is easy. You just get the cable/wire, cut it to lengths that will work, put end connectors on, and bolt them down to various places. There's no real right or wrong way to do it (although you want to be sure that the engine is grounding to the chassis, which will be connected to the negative terminal on the battery at several points).

I'm even thinking I might get some white and blue insulated cable, braid them, and then put connectors on, then use heatshrink over the ends to make them look nicer... ;)

You can order 4 gauge wire as well as gold plated 4 gauge connectors from lots of places(I used sounddomain.com and thezeb.com) I got my hammer and heat shrink from home depot.

Here are what my connections look like:

Dude, nice pic. What kind of camera do you have?

Back on topic.

Go to a local sound shop. They have wire there. Go in and ask if you can have about 15 feet of wire. I got 15 ft of 0/1 gauge wire and Phoenix Gold gold-plated 1 gauge connectors.

Cut the wire (cutting 0/1 gauge sucks!), take the insulation off the ends, place connector over, and with mine I had to use a hammer to crimp. But it still looks good because my connectors came with a black insulation cover to go over the end of the connector.

You can do it!

what purpose do these grounding wire kits serve?

They provide a clear ground path. The spark that ignites the fuel/air mixture in the cylinders just builds up a voltage and shorts it to ground. The path to ground can determine the strength of the current.

Better ground path = better spark

so where would be the best places to mount the wires for the best path ?

Has anyone noticed a difference in power or gas mileage after installing the ground wires?
