: Engine swap ??
EgTuscani03 02-05-2004, 01:50 PM I was just thinking about this, and i was wondering if something like this was at all possible from a different car ? say I somehow got a superior engine with stronger internals and more power potential so from a 350z or even an I6 from a supra. Would this be possible to drop one of these engines into a tib ? Just curious to hear from some tech heads to tell me why this can/cant be done
ron169 02-05-2004, 01:59 PM Anything is possible, but are ya planning on converting to RWD? because that would cost around 10gs by it self
StreetShark 02-05-2004, 02:49 PM Yeah...with $$ anything can be done.
JP_Playboy 02-05-2004, 03:09 PM me and one other guy attempted putting the 6g72tt motor in the tib and ran out of money for the swap in the process along time ago. I still have all the parts if you have the money to get it in. We weren't having alot of problems to tell you the truth
Blue04GT 02-05-2004, 04:51 PM Hey me and a friend of mine managed to stuff a 5.0 into a Miata....so yes anything can be done if you have the know how or bucks to pay someone who can.
Darkhamr 02-05-2004, 06:03 PM Yeah well the Miata has the same drivetrain layout. Turning a transverse mounted fwd Tib into a rwd car is not as easy.
tib-r 02-05-2004, 06:05 PM No point of engine swap unless your a rich bastard  but I rather get a car that have more hp gains, sorta like sell my Tiburon and get a WRX for example.
Blue04GT 02-05-2004, 09:41 PM its not gonna gonna take that much more work....we still had to fab all the mounts, cut up the floor and fire wall, and modify the frame to handle the torque and make room for the tranny & rear. The trick is too just strip the car down when you start....it will make your life easier. Its more time consuming than anything else.
Solo2Tib 02-05-2004, 10:02 PM Ah you are a tard.
Bass_Droppa 02-05-2004, 10:37 PM Ah you are a tard.
the most useful post in this whole thread. I will never understand why people wanna spend $15,000 to drop a motor from a different car into a $17,000 Tiburon. $15,000 worth of mods to the original car would yield SO much more.
kwiktiblueGT 02-06-2004, 12:33 PM It would be alot cheaper to rebuild the entire block with new internals and sleeves and sh*t then to try and put in a RWD. If you took the Delta down to nothin and rebuilt the block, new internals, port and polish the head and new cams and a turbo and the whole deal you could put some sick a$$ power down. And it would be alot more impressive than destroying the car to put in a different motor that would need almost as much work.
nisco 02-06-2004, 12:37 PM isnt our engine bay too small for alota good engines to fit in
philm00x 02-06-2004, 12:43 PM side A) they like taking on the challenge of putting a bigger engine into a not so common car i suppose.
side B) costs can make such projects financially unfeasible.
EgTuscani03 02-06-2004, 05:16 PM I was just wondering because ive heard that the v6 cant handle that much power. and eventually, i want this car to run at least a 12, but im talking a couple years down the road when I save some money for some serious power.
USMCGunRock 02-06-2004, 06:05 PM want to drop in a new engine? better have alot of money to drop with it. with $$$ sky is the limit!
heck, if u want, with alot of money, u can make the tib look like a diablo with a viper engine(but u will prolly be sitting in the rear hatch ::) )
mdanque1 02-06-2004, 06:23 PM if you couldnt aford one of the donor cars you definately cant afford the upgrade.
nobody loves hyundai that much.....
RudyH 02-06-2004, 06:37 PM Why don't you just buy another car?
Sleasy 02-06-2004, 06:50 PM I was just wondering because ive heard that the v6 cant handle that much power. and eventually, i want this car to run at least a 12, but im talking a couple years down the road when I save some money for some serious power.
You are an idiot. Don't believe everything you hear. And I doubt if you ever save any money in the next few years.
Solo2Tib 02-06-2004, 08:36 PM Apparently you don't know what will have to go into your car to make it run 12's. It'll be unrealible as hell and unstreetable. If you want crazy hp you should've bought a damn 4cyl.
