Hey guys, I am about to buy a pulley ( the one that is below the other two). Some people are telling me that the pulley may bring some problems to my car. For example my brother told me that the when he was going to buy the pulley for his Z28, He read thatthe pulley was going to uncharge thet batery. Now that I am interested in buying that pulley because he significant performance upgrade, I want to make sure of what I am buying and the best thing I could do is looking for help here.
Thanks guys and a big :) HELLO FROM PUERTO RICO to everyone in this site!!! :)

I have had The BPE underdrive pulley for about 20K miles, not 1 problem yet, but if your afraid of it messing up the alternator, get the full size pulley then

Uncharge the battery? As long as the alternator is functioning properly and the pulley is being spun, the battery will always receive a charge unless you already have $5,000 dollars in stereo equipment hooked up and haven't upgraded your alternator. Then the stereo equipment draws more power than the alternator can recharge. Same principle for hydraulics from what I understand (but they do nothing for perfomance, so I know VERY little about hydraulics!)

i'd heard something to that effect too about the underdrive pulleys since they are smaller, they dont crank enough power back into the battery from the alternator or something? and that the lights dim out a bit n stuff. i hoping someone makes full size pulleys in anodized blue some day.

The underdrive gives you a little more power.
I make underdrive for the I4 and V6, and full size for the V6. WHat else would you like ot know?

I have the Nick boers underdrive pulley on my V6 and love it. No problems at all (knock on wood) and as a matter of fact, i don't think anyone has had any problems with the V6 underdrive pulley. I think Samba dynoed around 4 hp and 2-3 ft lbs to the wheels across most of the rev. range or something very similar if my memory serves me correctly.
It is true that some cars do experiene problems with the underdriving characteristics of crank and accessory pullies however as far as the Nick boers underdrive crank pulley goes, it works without any big issues. The only real noticeable effect (besides the beneficial power gains) is the slightly dimmer lights when idling at night. If you rev up the engine past 1000 rpms youl'll see the lights get a little brighter as the alternator is spinning up faster. But the battery charges and you can blast all the accessories (fan, ac. interrior lights, headlights, etc.) at idle and everything works fine.
It's a great bolt on.
I highly recommend it! 8)
