My mussa video clip in .avi format which may take few minutes to load on media player due to its filesize.

not rice : Why? cold weather (car havn't warmed up) and digital camera microphone ain't that great but you get the idea of how loud it is while car is parked. The diameter tips of the exhaust is 3 inches I believe and they're the double tip version on my v6 Tiburon GT. This is quick video taken since the day was about to rain soon

http://www3.telus.net/aznvt143/mussa.avi

*NOTE* To people saying the sound may seem what they expected watching a video clip rather than in person to hear it, just let you all know that the low tone sound may vary from either weather or car condition. Heck, at least I got a mussa cat-back and others still deciding. I like my mussa cat-back so much I am waiting for their mussa CAI to be on the market soon. :D

 It's okay, I don't really have time to re-adjust my options for video recording enhancements on the digital camera with the microphone, but as mention that's the double tip version not the mussa EVA.

Suggestion: Get what you can afford, be happy with it, and don't regret later but enjoy what you have on your tiburon.

* buyer thoughts *

I got the mussa from people feedbacks about how good it is, as in gain performance and quality apperance. However, I didn't just buy the mussa for it's sound comparison to any other cat-back system, so really think on that. If you just concern more for the cat-back sound then you're just more rice than my video clip *points at* 03`tiburonz  (don't take it too personal nor in any offensive way) it's cool that you think my video clip is rice, however, I'm just trying to help other people by giving them a sample. ::)

01-26-2004, 01:11 AM
Trust me, Mussa does NOT sound "raspy" like it does in that clip. I don't have a video for you but I'm pretty sure someone else does.
I don't believe it's as loud as other cat-backs are, but it does have a deep growl to it. Personally, I like it alot and would highly recommend it.

I dunno 03'tiburonz but after research with mussa cat-back and the availability it went through, which is why I decided on it. Back then people complain how long they waited for greddy cat-back comparison to the shipment with mussa is reason why as well. Anyways, I'll try to get better sound clips probably closer to the mussa cat-back whenever it's sunny again hopefully.

The EVA is not raspy at all. If I had the program to render off my camera I would post one. Call me and I'll hold the phone up to the car. I have the silencers out right now..the sound is amazing. I would not recomend/sell it if I didnt like the exhaust....

so its worth me spending the extra cash vs. 450 for the borla? Lemme ask a Q: this is a straight bolt on right? when changing them is there anything you have to cut, sauder, weld ect? Im thinking of getting a friend over and doing the exhaust and intake instead of paying someone

Q: this is a straight bolt on right?
A: Correct! perfect fit, no need to modify (cut) nor weld, just bolt here and there and you're done! which the mussa comes with all the parts you need to install, and probably approximately would take about less than half hour to install it. Depends if you have someone to help of course.

The mussa is a direct bolt up. It comes with new bolts/nuts and gaskets. If your doing it on a lift..figure about 1/2 hour...on your back with jack stands..about 45-60mins.

tib-r
01-27-2004, 09:49 AM
It's okay as long you have ground clearance since you don't want to drive around on how low your stock tiburon is already, and hearing scraping noises from the pipes or even your tip being angle'd. I'm even still careful going through those pot holes or deep gaps, which is one time my car being low stock without coil overs or springs. It got hit onto the ground just slightly but still that's by poor judgement :'(

Also 03`tiburonz as you mention about the extra cash for mussa cat-back compared to cheaper deal on borla. Really have to say that as the price now for mussa I see is bogus good deal to me, back then when mussa cat-back been released for sale from their company. I purchase it through cheori at mussa rate price or probably cheori got a discount or something can't remember, but I paid somewhat $1000 CND for mines just a bit more than what you expect what you'll be paying for it. As again just get it if you have done enough research and been convinced. Just trying to help you out enjoying another great exhaust system made and becoming another mussa warrior like us LOL! ::) :P :D

Okay, so it seems you all tend to prefer the Mussa over all... but what do you guys really think about Borla? From what I hear Borla is known for making a damn good exhaust. Maybe they make better exhaust for different cars but does anyone know how they perform on a tib?

I was set on getting a Borla but now I'm not so sure...

tib-r
01-27-2004, 03:28 PM
Not sure about borla much but some people say the borla sound good for it's low tone? so didn't really much say about its performance gains. The mussa have said to given good low tone sound as well and also it's hp gains.

Borla is a great manufacturer of aftermarket exhausts! Been around for decades. The performance side is pretty close on these catbacks, so you have to look at sound and looks. The Borla is a stock mimic on the tips, and seems to be a bit higher pitch in tone but not as loud. I have the Mussa and was in the same debate, but I personally would have missed out on the Mussa, especially after adding the headers!

NJTiburon22
01-27-2004, 04:05 PM
I'm also looking at headers. Which ones are everyone going for? The guy at ssautochrome wrote me back about those headers on e-bay. He said the tube thickness was only 1.9mm which turns out to be 7.5 thousandths of an inch I think. I heard that anything less than 14 thousands of an inch wasn't good, but then again this guy is an american muscle car freak. What do you guys think?

as for asthetics go, i definately like the borla more because of the stock looking tips. i don't like the mussa tips that slant upward and how large the tips are. The straight tip is better looking but i still don't like the size of it and the added cost.

fixer
01-27-2004, 10:23 PM
as far as headers...yes..OBX aka SSauto are thin...and thats probably where most of the guys get excess noise from. But..they are from China and from other stuff I've seen..you get what you pay for.

I had Hot Shots make headers for the 2.0 and 2.7...they come ceramic coated and have a 1 year warranty against cracking...if you use header wrap you void the warranty on them.

I have a question about Mussa catback. Does the exhaust actually touch the bumper or close enough to cause discoloration in the bumper? Also from the pictures i've seen it looks pretty low to the ground. wouldn't it scrap against the ground if I go over a small pothole or a speedbump? Can someone that knows about Mussa exhaust comment on this?

Our Mussa Catback piping diameter : 63mm (Pipe connetion w/ frenzir ) 70mm ( pipe size)

Material : T-304 Pure Stainless / NOT T-305 Stainless(Don't confuse with the other brand)

Welding: Robotic welding ( You will find big difference from other tiburon catback manufactures...)

Bending : CNC madrial machinary Bended

Polishing: Mirror Polished / Don't confuse with coating... China products make coating ...Why? because it is NOT pure Stainless ...It will rust after winter....

MADE FROM: KOREA ( NOT CHINA or TAIWAN)

The best qualities of the original such as fitment, sound and performance

TIP : Angle tip : Approx. 3.5" UP/Down / 3" Side
TIP: EVA VI : 4 " dimension / Included silencer

Anything you guys wanted know...?? Please leave post....Thanks 8)

The exhaust will not hit speed bumps nor pot holes however if you do lower the tiburon maybe it will, but that depends on your good judgement. Exhaust does not barely touch the bumper and don't worry about discoloration because that never happens. Been having the mussa for couple months now and results is always excellent.

So wait... why do you guys choose MUSSA over Borla? Is it based on performance of for just the sheer looks of MUSSA?

bobo69
01-28-2004, 05:20 PM
i chose mussa for the sound and the looks the performance wont be very different. plus i didnt really like the way that the borla 'clamped' together i liked the flanges a little better i could have i welded but then i have to pay for that too. besides the flanges only go on one way the borla can be twisted around and that requires a very small amount of fiddling to get it to fit right (not a deciding factor, but its something to think about)

I chose Mussa because I liked the look of the sloped tips up tips, no other exhaust has that, that I know of which makes it more unique, also the low rumbling sound is excellent, knew this because of videos, when I got it I didn't see any Borla vids so that tilted me more towards Mussa

Mussa,
just wanted to know if someone is running an Supercharger and headers will this exhaust system result in loss of power since the piping is 2.5' instead of 2.25' which is recommended? I only ask because Im thinking about selling my Magnaflow catback and buying the Mussa Eva VI. And I wanted to know when do you plan on having your next sell on exhaust I missed out on the last one.

I think 2.25" or 2.5 " does really make any difference on HP gain with SC or Header with MUSSA Catback system.
