why did you go with 3inch pipe? are you planning on going with forced induction?

I also have 2 1/2 all the way back. Works pretty well.

2 1/4 is said to be more responsive because running N/A one may not have enough back pressure for larger pipes. I have 2 1/2 all the way back and I like it! I also have a V6, maybe smaller is better for the 4cyl?

Hey Shadow if you had showed up earlier on Saturday and not gotten lost, we had a discussion about this. Joe (teal tib) has 3" pipes and likes them alot. Matt (white tib) had 2 1/2 inch pipes and doesnt think they have enough backpressure. Someone else has 2 1/4 inch pipes and also likes them. So I guess its all about preference, and if you don't like the 2 1/2, I would go with 2 1/4 to give you a little more low end power.

yep. and the reason i just went ahead with 3 is cus I hate to do things twice.

What mods do you have now?
How is your back pressure without forced induction? Does it lag a lot?

I have an intake installed. and some spark plugs i never put in : )

My back pressure seems fine. Not sure. i'd have to sit in a reg tib with intake and exhuast to tell if it feels diff cus its been so long. But it seems perfectly fine and it sounds awesome when i pull out the silencers.

I guess the only way to tell is to get both and dyno each to see what is better.

i hope ur not serious...

...typical ricer statement..."bigger pipes are better"

u know bigger isnt ALWAYS better...

Malogus: im the one with 1/4 and i chose it over 2.5. our cars dont need 2.5 and iv explained this on this site time after time after time.

shadow: ur really not coming off well right here...ur acting like a fellow member is trying to rip u off...

his exhaust is only a yr old and still has 4yrs warranty left. from 600-300...i think thats a good enough deal for something a yr old...dont u...

and while we are at it, we told him to get 1/4 sized pipes b/c with his headers his 2.5 sounds like ****...ricey...and he said he's staying N/A....so...yea.

I agree with the 2 1/4 inch. I think anything bigger probably slows the exhaust velocity down too much. But seeing how I haven't done any exhaust work on my car, I can't really comment

Actually I recently measured and I do have 2 1/4. My lost low end was from my POS BPV, all is better now that I took it out and have strait CAI.

Excuse me but you asked about buying my exhaust not the other way around. Comparing your cheap custom exhaust to a year old, barely driven stainless MBRP with high flow mufflers is insulting.

2.25... or 2.5.. or 3.. I'd personally say go with what you want.. if your looking for the most gains you gotta think about your future mod plans. Like mine is FI, thus the 3". If you plan on staying N/A prolly 2.25 or 2.5 if your planning on doing alot of n/a mods.

oh boy...

...i agree that USUALLY bigger pipes are needed for FI vs n/a...yes...

...but just bc ur going FI doesnt mean 3inch piping is what u need...it ALL depends on the FI application...s/c...turbo...and the power its putting out...and also the size of the engine itself.

2.5 n/a is not needed. 2.25 is sufficient...has better torque...and sounds better.

headers plus 2.5 or bigger pipes = discusting sound...seriously...

y do u think ricers have that horrible exhaust sound and that popping sound...b/c their damn pipes are too big...i hope u know that...

Mines better while i do agree they can sound bad. It can also sound good. Depends on what you use. I've recently heard Ibbanez's car with a 2.5 and headers and it sounded nothing like all the ricers we passed. My FI application will be turbo. My GOAL output is 350+ and yes i know what all i need to do, but like i said I dont plan on doing any part twice. also my exhaust dont sound like any honda exhaust i ever heard.

I think i got lucky on the muff's i picked up.. hehe i saw em loved the look and price and didnt know what they sounded like and got em.

If i had a way to get a Good sound clip up i'd do it.

cool cool.

i personally havent seen any exhaust sounding better than mine...tehe..i love it

i dunno how to do sound clips tho...

and on one of them it would prob not sound as good.

p.s one reason why mine might sound better than if it were just a 3".. i have a 3" high flow cat as well.. just maybe it helps but not sure

Hrm. I never really knew what mine sounded like till i heard it reflect off another car and omg i loved it. Then i had my dad drive the car around like i would etc pushing it from 1st - 3rd gear and i was in a car on the side and man it sounded great.

OK! Mines better you need to shut up......lol sry bro dont get mad but im pissed now because i just wanted to hear everyones opinion on the subject. I saw someone else say there car sounds like a buzzing bee and thats what i have. I do want the 2 1/4 exhaust but im not sure now....matt i know your not ripping me off and i think i want to buy just not sure........you guys didnt have to talk crap about my exhaust it flows good. Just incase you other people are wondering i have intake, headers, hi flow cat, and exhaust 2.5 all the way back.......i read some where on the forum before that people with headers are having a buzzing noise and that is the sound i am getting ..........this made me very mad that some of you have to go and trash on my car........jus for that im thinking about going and buying a borla instead of buying the MBRP off of this person so ill stop being cheap and just spend money just so you people cant diss on my car anymore thanx you all that helped.

Shadow man chill for a sec. Some people give their opinions and you just hafta learn to ignore them. simple bro. Ibbanez has the almost same setup as you except he has a custom 2.5 piping with mufflers he got himself. and his car sounds badass. While he was driving away i heard guys mutter "whad ta. man check that. holy ****.. its nice." I dunno why it braught this up... someone IM'd me and i lost total thought.. DAMNIT i'll finish it up when i remember.

Yea my exhaust sounded baddddasssss b4 i put my headers on and now i have a buzzing sound (ricey) the only person thats ever said anything about my exhaust sounding like **** is minebetter everyone else like it so far and he heard it when it was cold i have a lot of peole come up to me and tell me it looks nice and sounds nice.......i personally dont like the way it sounds since i got headers and i am thinking about going with a diff. exhaust........one for the sound and 2 so people cant say im a cheap a$$. and the ignoring part......im only 16 and i tend to take a lot of pride in the things i have and the things i do......i will prob. learn as i mature but for now i just get mad. but thanx bro........

Hey talking pride and doing stupid stuff is diff. Dont spend more money when you dont have to just cus of someone else. This is your RIDE. do what you WANT. if you dont like the sound by all means change it. but if someone else said i dont like it all you gotta do is say " well ****er i dont like you either" and forget about it. Before you change your exhaust get your intake all completed and do other stuff. Think about it. do the exhaust over and over again and your never gonna have money for something else. Thats just my suggestion.

On my S/C Tib, From the Flex Pipe back, I'm running 2 1/2 " Main Pipe / Hi-Flow Cat, split into 2 1/4" Tail Pipes, that is the largest size for the Supercharger, 3" Pipe will make the S/C Tib slower, especially with Header's. There won't be enough back pressure for the Supercharger, and you will lose Boost....
For the N/A Tib's, Do Not go larger than 2 1/4" Main Pipe / Cat, and 2" Tail Pipes......
