I just bought myself an injen cold air intake today. But i have one quick question. On the instructions it tells me to take of the front bumper ?? What the heck ??? Please tell me that i can install this by just taking off the tire and inner fender ! Cause takeing off the bumper isn't what i had in mind . And least but not last, where can a guy get a front motor mount now that key is no longer around . Thanks for the help !

Oh thank god !! Really didn't want to take the bumper off . I was just thinking of how many ways i could scratch it, dent it or who knows what else. ??? And also, is there any cutting involved in the injen? I had origanally thought it was only the aem that needed to have the fender opening made bigger. But there is a post here about someone having to do that also to install there injen as well? Anyone ?? Thanks for the replies !

u dont have to really cut, u can just file it down and then bend it, thats what i did. U can cut each corner (although its not square or rectangle just u get it) 2 on each side and bend down and file.

Or you could let a friend do it and they could chop the hell out of the engine bay... Thats what I did (not recommended)...

I got a friend to saw a small piece out and works fine. Follow the DIY for the AEM in the DIY forum. Works fine. Just make sure you use a jack stand and the jack, don't want the car falling on you.

To bend the metal all you need is a pair of vise grips. clamp onto the hole from below and just bend. I used some small pieces of wood from a piant stick and bent mine down a little just to make a little more room. Took about 1 hour for the install.

1st you don't have to enlarge the opening into the fender well at all, The tubing is very thin and a light squeeze on the tubing wiil get it though the opening.. 2nd when it is time to change the filter it easier to just remove the headlight assembly to get access to the the filter. I also installed a heat shield facing the front of the car to keep the filter dry. Seemd like some folks were getting CEL and it appeared to be caused by water getting on the filter while driving. Also the shield keeps the filter cleaner longer.

How do you like your GReddy CB, SilverGT? Does it sound "ricy" and how werew the performance gains? Does it sound good with the Injen installed? THX!

Exhaust and intake sound mellow. Would not consider it ricey. As for performence gains, not real sure. No dyno so can just go by the claimed gains. I have a 66 Chevelle SS396 with headers and straight duals. Now that makes some NOISE! The Tib did get some attention last year at car cruises, but seems there are a lot more of them on the road in the last month or so. Don't think there are too many around my area that have been rebadged as Tuscani since that always draws comments. I've had the GReddy on for about 3500 miles and it seems to be getting louder as I put some miles on.

In my thoughts the heat shield would somewhat decrease the effiency of the air intake. You could just install a BPV on the upper end before the MAF and this would reduce the possibility of the CEL prob. and I don't think it has as much of an effect on the perfomance. Does any of this make sence or am i just dilusional?

Well I have not seen anyone install a BPV on an Injen CAI, due to the small size of the tube where you would normally place the BPV. Also you would need to cut the CAI tube to fit the BPV. Seemed better to me to use the shield since I am not planning on driving thru a ~2 foot deep puddle to get hydrolocked. Also I would like to add that some had a concern about driving thru a car wash and getting underspray to get rid of road dirt/salt. I just shut down the Tib and restart when exiting. That should do just fine if you are worrried about sucking in water for the car wash under spray.

Makes sense ? What would you use to make a heat sheild for the filter on an Injen cai ?

I believe if you go to injen's site they are for sell there.

SilverGt - excelent point for the INJEN tube size. I am running an AOS so I have no prob. there. All of the auto washes around here spray as soon as you enter, so it is hard to shutt off before going in also the streets in my town seem to flood when we get a heavy rain. 2ft. puddles are not uncommon around here.

Location: BFE Illinois - nothing but cows and corn fields - excuse me have tendacy to be a smart azz

Look around on Ebay for a generic. Much cheaper than the Injen Shield. Can't see it in the wheel wel anyway. As for the car wash, you should not need to wory about a normal wash, just if you are getting the undercarriage sprayed.

I never said you HAD to bend the metal. I just bent mine a little because it gave me a little more room for the intake to move around. When I first installed it the intake rattled against the opening a little during accleration so I took the bottom piece back off and bent the metal back about 1/2" each side. The metal bends very easy.
