I ordered a STS from cheori and I am waiting for it to come in. I was wondering if anyone else who got one from the NT.com store has installed theirs yet. Was it a direct bolt up or did it need some mods like the B&M one does.
Thanks.

Its just a stock shifter cut in half and welded back together it'll just go right in.

I kinda thought it was an engineered new STS not just a mod stock one. Guess I kinda got screwed on that one. So what are opinions on it, do you feel the B&M will be better? Is it worth the cash for the B&M.

BM will probly be stronger but its not like you are breking the stock shifter

The B&M comes with new bushings and everything, the pivot and everything is engineered to work good. Obvously it'll be better then a chopped stocker.

I got mine from BassTib. I really love the shifter. Eventhough it is a modded stock shifter, I really don't think it is going to break. But I also have nothing bad to say about the B&M shifter. I had one in my old car and thought it worked well too.

Just my two cents :)

well.. I could take my shifter out, cut it in half, and its not going to reduce the throw. Its a legitimate question ****tard.

yeah, but if did as I said and cut my shifter in half, that doesn't necessarilly reduce the throw. It requires more work to reduce the throw than just cutting the shifter doesn't it?

You've shortened the lever by one half and that reduces the distance the top of the lever has to move to achieve the angle of movement. The longer the lever, the longer the distance the top of the lever has to move. Just try it with a pencil pivoting on a table at the eraser end. Look at how much further the point must move as opposed to the middle of the pencil to reach any angle.

I've got one of BassTibs shifters and the throw is about a half of the stock.

I thought there was more to it that just that.. Maybe I just have bad info in my brain..

I had BassTib's shifter in my car and then I put the B&M one in and there is no comparison between the two. B&M feels much better and I had problems with the reverse blocker on BassTibs and had to cut it shorter to get into reverse. The b&m fit perfectly and functions much better.

i got the B&M and i wouldn't go back to stock. It actually makes you feel better driving, not that it reduces your time or increases HP. It really does make for a better driving experience tho! Get one, it'll change the way you drive (i've been shifting twice as much now just 'cause it feels good). :-D

I wish they had made it clear at the store that it was just a hacked up stock shifter, I wouldn't have spent the cash on it, and instead gone with the B&M. Well I just assumed that the NT.com store would only sell top shelf products to the NT members.

this is really annoying, I called Basstib's number this morning and I got a Verizon message that it has been changed. He won't respond to any of my pm's ove rthe last 3 or 4 days, and he isn't posting anywhere on the site. Did you just leave?

Anyway, I just installed his shifter the other day when I was installing my headers. It was professionally installed by a mechanic. About 20 minutes after it was in I was running the car hard with the new headers, and as I shifted from 1st to 2nd I ripped the shifter into peices. The welded part just broke in half. Thank god I still have my stock shifter, it's back on now. But the one basstib sent me was a peice of ****. The mechanic looked at it as well as others around him and they laughed at how horrible of a welding job it was. They said that he was supposed to weld it in a V shape, but he welded in flat across, and only on the outside edges. What a POS.

Wasted $120 on that ****. I'm ordering a B&M shifter. Whats even worse is I want a refund from Basstib but he won't answer phone calls, pms, or anything.

I wasn't gonna post this if he said he would refund me, but since he doesn't want to here's my story about his shifter for all of you to read.

yeah I am getting the feeling that anyone who got that shifter is gonna be royally screwed. Now that I flushed $120 on an STS that has taken 2 months to get here(still don't have it) I am a little pissed.

Call Summit....they wont have it in thier catalog or on the web page and 99% of the time you get your part in under a week. Most places (especially local speed shops) will never be able to under sell them....1-800-230-3030

this is exactly what i thought would happen with the custom fab short shifters...simply cutting and welding isn't usually a good choice....mite as well get a full replacement with a big known company for a bit more...

Never mind got it off picture of box in GB section. Part number 45157. Put it into summit as BMM-45157 and it came up as precision manual shifter $199.95, but it won't ship til 3-13. So I guess it is backordered or something, so even ordering now won't see it for a couple weeks.

if you bought your sts from the nt store just contact cheori and see about a refund. he gave me one for mine saying he could no longer get in touch with basstib to get the shifters for the order.

I am responsible for B&M having back order of STS for Tiburon.....

I think first backordered units are on the way right now for rest of people on the GB list...

If I find many more people interested in buying B&M sts I will set up 2nd GB on B&M STS soon at the same price as the 1st GB price.

I' m also in for the group buy on the B&M shifter.

I'd like to let everyone know I got in touch with basstib and he promised a refund. I don't want to give him such a bad name because of the shifter being broken. He said my shifter is the only one that has ever broken.
