would it be cheaper to port and polish my heads or just buy nextgen headers?

not trying to insult your intelligence, but you do realize that porting and polishing your heads and buying headers are two completely different things. Your headers bolt up to the heads, so ideally you would want to buy headers and then blueprint and balance your heads, maybe shave them or something like that. or you could buy headers and then buy heads from www.rpw.com ...not exactly sure if that is the right URL. Samba-GSR would be a good guy to get more info from on this subject.

he's right. port and polish head and gettin new headers is very different. but along those lines i say go with gettin new headers from nextgen and talk to TC over there at next gen about his head port and polish project. last time i called (TC if u read this im the guy with the dad tellin u the cc # ^_^ TY by the way) he discussed w/ me a head p&p coming soon.

Basically porting and polishing heads involves the removal of material, contouring and polishing of the intake/exhaust ports and combustion chamber of the cylinder heads. The heads have to be removed from the engine, and valve train removed from the head. Typical cost for RE and RE should be about $500, and actual porting should be in the $350-500 a head range. Gains can be good for about a 10-15whp with stock cams, and valves, or more with big lift cams, and oversize valves.

Headers on the otherhand, are tubular exhaust manifolds which help scavenge exhaust gasses, to increase torque and HP. They replace the stock manifolds, and remove all catalytic converters. The are good for about 12-15 whp on a tib V6. Cost $400 from TC at nextgen, or cheaper on ebay...

you sure its only 10-15 whp samba? the peoples that worked on those 6s solaras are my p&p connection in cali and were talking to me about 30-50 for the v6.

If you port and polish the heads as well as get all new internals for those heads and get headers as well, then yeah you could get 30-50 from all that, but that is probably a couple grand. Speaking of which I would love to see what TC is looking for as far as cost on the P&P Heads.

Key Performance was the only company coming close to 30, I believe theirs were like 29, but I believe they were race headers, long tube sort maybe.

guys back to reality for a second. Realistically no header is going to gain more then 20whp. As for P&P, without valve train and cams, no way in hell are you going to see 30+whp.

30-50 whp??? lol that kinda funny. so what u get from cold air? 20-40whp? and all this small thing? i thing i should be around 500whp on my tiburon.looooooooooool should i paint my calipers and get another 40whp?
