Im putting on my intake plenum spacer and changinf my spark plugs. I just got everything off. Got the plenum on, the spark plugs in, the intake manifold on and the throttle body attached. But then i realized the throttle cables are looser than i remember them. I shrug it off and then turn on the car to check it and it turns over but doesn't seem to get any air. I dont know whats wrong which is why im here. Can some one help quickly???

Did you:
1. rebolt the throttle cable bracket onto the IM?
2. Plug in your spark plug wires?
3. Reattach the grounding strap to the IM from the firewall?
4. Check the gaps on your plugs before installing?
I don't mean to sound like a smart ass, just trying to brainstorm for possible causes.
3. might be the problem. I tried to start my car once without that little strap connected and the starter wouldn't even turn.
Even with no tension on the throttle cable it should start and idle. If you smell gas then maybe you aren't getting any spark to the cylinders. Try pulling off one of the plug wires to the front bank, stick a screwdriver in it so that it touches the electrode, then hold the plastic handle (with one hand, and make sure that nothing else on your body is touching any metal of the car) so that some part of the metal screwdriver shaft is about a 1/8 to 1/4" away from the valve cover, and have a buddy turn the key. Look for sparking between the screwdriver shaft and the valve cover.
Maybe check all the fuses... especially the ECU fuses.
*Edit*
I just posted this and then read Sleasy's reply, man we must think alike...

Yeah we do. I am just trying to follow in your footsteps. But back to the topic. I think he is spinning the motor....has gas. Gotta be spark or closed down flapper on the throttle body.

Even if the butterfly is completely closed on the throttlebody there is a small "bypass" channel that allows it to idle... Ah.. maybe the electrical connections to the TB are not in properly, or connected, which control the idle... just another guess :-\

why did you tell him to keep the screwdriver away from his body? I always like to just hold the metal to be sure that it really does have spark. ;-) sorry being a smart@$$
