: spark plug wire question

I'm gonna stick with the NGK plugs for my 60K mile maint. because I think the are good plugs and will probably last longer than silverstone plugs. But I would like to also get some performance wires. My questions are:

Are the Nology Hotwires the resistor type?
Where can I purchase the Vitek wires, and are they resistor type?
any other suggestions for performance wires?

Thanks everyone!

http://www.vitekwires.com/partdetails.asp?ProductID=12660 for vitek wires.. far as i seen they only got for beta engines (shows up for 99 tiburon but if im not mistaken, the wires for the 99 tib should work same for GKs).

i've heard magnecore and nology are very good wires too. i'm thinkin about the nology wires myself.

i have nologys and silverstone plugs on my car, no problems and i like them. they are capacitor wires, not resistor.

Nology uses a capacitor not a resistor. Why do you think the NGK are better than the Silverstone?

I actually have Vitek for a V6. Bought them off a GB held a while back.

Nology uses a capacitor not a resistor.

What is the purpose of the capacitor in the wires?

Is there a reason not to use wires with capacitors in them?

As much as I would like to say I knew this much... I don't however using this site called Google.com, I was able to assertain the following results in a matter of about 20 seconds.. .:) :

Nology HotWires are the most technologically advanced ignition wires available. HotWires create the most powerful spark possible. HotWires are engineered with a special built-in capacitor, exclusive only to HotWires. This revolutionary design allows energy from the ignition coil to accumulate in the capacitor until the voltage at the spark plug electrodes reaches the ionization point. At that split second point the entire power of the stored spark is discharged at once, creating a spark 300 times more powerful. The result is faster, more complete combustion, and most importantly,
MORE HORSEPOWER that's 100%. Smog Legal.

I didn't say that NGK are better that silvertone's, I just think they will last longer. Which I need, being that I put about 32,000 miles a year on my tib! :'( The platinum is more for longevity, as the silver is more for performance.

Plus where can I actually purchase the Vitek wires?

Nology & Silverstones are designed to work together. It is a costly, but excellent setup.

We saw a 9hp gain from NOlogy and a 7hp gain from a list member with nology.

I felt the difference on my butt dyno.

They sell rather well @ the dealer.

V6 are $234 -10% for list members
2.0 is $153 -10%
plugs are $6.80 -10%

call me at the dealer if you'd like to order..red, blue and black are in stock for 2.0 and 2.7.

I use them with my SC and no problems for 20k + miles.

Funny thing, I was just about to ask if this would be recommended on an FI application... so, would this be a good idea on a BETA II with a lovely TD04h strapped to it?

Fixer:

This might be a stupid question, but are the plugs $6.80 -10% EACH??

Thanks.

Me too. I think the wires and plugs will be a great easy mod for those of us that haven't done many other upgrades. It will help burn up that rich mixture and give a nice increase in power, and hopefully in efficiency.

I am gonna setup a GB on Sparkco 10mm wires for V6 and I4 shortly. Also some other goodies like HID's and Rotors.

Nevermind, got the answer myself, and thought I would share it with the rest of you! This is an email I got from Eric Meckes at Vitek:

Yes, the part number for the 03 Tiburon V6 is 60H68 followed by the first letter of the color you want, example 60H68R is Red. You can order direct from us. Acutally if you were thinking of ordering a set, we had a Holiday special running on them which was $20.00 off. The special ended on January 1st, however, if you get the order in by the end of this week I can still push it through. So it would be $149.00 - $20.00 plus $10.00 shipping in the US. All you have to do is call Toll-Free 1-888-590-2222 and we can process the order with pretty much any credit card.

Thank You for your inquiry and we look forward to serving you.
