I have ben told that the best kind of BOV for my alpine turbo tib is a reserculating one. Who makes a good BOV of that kind? How do I know that t is a reserc. BOV? :P

HKS, excellent BOV, called the SSQV. They make a recirculation fitting, priced at $12, at www.hksusa.com

A recirculating BOV is needed when you have a mass airflow sensor between the air filter and the turbo. It vents the air back into the intake between the MAF and the turbo, so the MAF doesn't count air that gets pumped out the BOV to the atmosphere.

If you don't have a MAF between the filter and turbo, you don't need a recirculating BOV. If you have a MAP sensor instead, you can put the BOV anywhere betwee the turbo and throttle body, but closer to the throttle body is better. If you have a MAF sensor between the turbo and throttle body, put the BOV between the MAF and turbo. THis way, the MAF won't count the vented air.

A recirculating BOV will have a fitting that lets you plumb it back in somewhere. An external vent BOV will have a horn sometiems, or nothing at all, it just vents.

yea no need for a recirculating one... Go for it if you want the sleeper feel as it will not be as loud when it sounds.

actually, my friend has 2002 GTI 1.8T with Forged 007 Diverter Valve(dumps air back in) but with the Cold Air Intake, the sound travels out the pipes and it's just like having BOV if not better.

awesome sound

ok. But genrally speaking recurculating BOV's are alot quieter then open air BOV's. I was just stating a rule of thub. Take the loudest open air BOV like the XS type RFL. and get the idential TYPE H recirculating. It has the same design but can not have the horn because it recirculates. The recirculating one will be quieter.

Thanks for the info guys. What BOV would you prefer. The HKS SSQV or the XS type RFL. The sell the HKS one for 250 at a Super Autobacs by my house. I would rather get the XS RFL because I heard that it is loud ass hell and it retails for 180. I just don't know of a place around here where I can get one.
