Thanks

Sick Shift to the rescue! V6 6 SPEED BABY!!

Wire 1 = 10"
Wire 2 = 14"
Wire 3 = 23"
Wire 4 = 51"
Wire 5 = 26"
Wire 6 = 42"

Wire 1: Replacement for factory ground strap (Intake Manifold to firewall)
Wire 2: Installed over the factory ground (neg side of battery to chassis)
Wire 3: Negative battery terminal to bolt on engine bracket on front of engine (just below valve cover)
Wire 4: Again, connect to bolt on engine bracket from above step then run to throttle cable plate that holds the cables to back of intake manifold.
Wire 5: Connect to throttle plate from above step and run to bolt on strut tower that holds the bracket for the plastic engine covers to mount to.
Wire 6: Connect to strut tower from above step and run wire to bolt just above AC compressor.

Hmmm the Hyper Ground System says it has 5 wires...

Are these instructions from the GK kit or from the HGS kit?

Also, I4 or V6- which one do you own?

Now that the HGS or GK kit is any different but just for my info I'd like to know.

Thanks Sick Shift!

The Instructions were originally posted by OZ Tuscani I think, and I'm not sure what kit he owned.... but these are custom ground wires, enjoy the pics...! And yes, I own the V6 6Spd....

Correct, I have the Definitive Performance kit for the V6

Those instructions came with the kit from the old original Group Buy on this site. Tibmeister is basically selling these same kits currently.

I got 0/1 gauge blue wire to match the color of my car...and gold-plated connectors so I will be doing this when it stops raining. I will let people know how the butt dyno reads. :)

Thats some pretty think wire you got there. Why are you using so think? You should only need 4 gauge. 0/1 might bight to big and you might find it harder to mount to places. You have end connectors that fit it?

Yeah. Got 0/1 ga. gold-plated connectors and wire! Shouldn't be any problem fitting it. I'm doing it today since I'm at work with the car and there's no rain in sight.

Why so thick?

I figured might as well go the thickest wire. Thicker wire -> less resistance. 0/1 ga thicker than 4 ga:: 0/1 ga. less resistance than 4 ga. :D

All done. It took a while. Many breaks I guess.

All I have to do tomorrow is go to the audio store and get a connector (screw-type) to put in the the Optima's negative front post so I can move those two ground wires to the front part of the batetery instead of cluttering up the top. And, I need to drill a hole into one of the connectors that mount on the strut area. I4 doesn't have that bolt that the V6's have in the strut area so I am mounting it on my coilover bolt on the strut tower. After that, it'll be totally complete.

Right now I'm resetting the ECU.

I'll post butt dyno results tomorrow when all is said and done. Sick Shift, thanks for your help especially.

hey...if i was going to move my battery to the rear...where would some of those ground wires go?

specifically:

Damn, I have no clue. Characeristics of wire is less length = less resistance in addition to bigger gauge = less resistance. Well, if you move it to the rear, that wire length will definitely increase and the resistance will just increase back to stock specs probably. If you go with bigger wire it would definitely help. I believe Solo has his battery back in the rear so you should PM him.

You could still run wire from the front chassis grounds to the rear. How? very carefully. You have to sneak it through the car I guess.

I'm just a novice with very little knowledge how any of this works.... ! Yeah, definitely ask Solo!

Don't worry about removing the stock grounding strap. That way you'll keep your warranty on the electrical system and your still get the benefit from the grounding wire system. Think of it this way, electricity ALWAYS picks the path of least resistance, so it'll always use the thicker gauge speaker wire. you CAN'T overground something.

Hope that helps :-D :3_winkthu

This looks pretty good. I think I'm going to try this soon.

I made my own kit with bulk materials. Cost me about $5 for ring terminals, $10 for the negative terminal, and about $12 in 4ga cable.

All you need is wire, ring terminals, and a crimper. I also soldered the terminals to the wires, but that isn't necessary. There is no real DIY.

Whole engine bay:
http://freon.shackspace.com/car/ground/Dscf0012.jpg
Negative terminal (one wire goes to the stock ground location):
http://freon.shackspace.com/car/ground/Dscf0013.jpg
Intake and firewall:
http://freon.shackspace.com/car/ground/Dscf0014.jpg
Front head:
http://freon.shackspace.com/car/ground/Dscf0015.jpg
And lastly a wire straight from the battery to the coils:
http://freon.shackspace.com/car/ground/Dscf0016.jpg

Most other people run theirs almost the same besides the wire to the coils. I think it only makes sense to run a wire straight to the coils, given we're trying to improve spark. That's probably the only wire in the setup that actually functions. The butt dyno registered a big zero on this, so who knows. Not worth a $75 dyno to find out.
