Ok, I realize that OBX, SSAutochrome and nextgen headers are all the same. My question is, Nextgen says they have a "race pipe" whereas the SSautochrome ebay item says "race cat". Do the SSAutochrome headers come with an actual funtioning catylitic converter?

I would love to support TC, but I do need a cat and SSAutochrome is going for about $250 on ebay!

Not a race cat. SSAutochrome will ship you a hollow tube. It is the same as Nextgen's. They will send you 5 bung plugs though for the O2 bungholes, all the gaskets needed, etc. They have the best price for a V6 header system anywhere to be found.

Thanks guys for the input. For those of you who have already purchased the header kit, how much roughly did they charge for shipping?

i paid 450 shipped for the catback and headers thats a hell of a deal i think. i thought he was charging like 30 or 40 bucks for shipping on the headers by them selfs they are heavy

I'm also looking for a universal Hi flow cat. I found some from Magnaflow on ebay for about $40. What diameter do I need to fit between my OBX headers and Greddy Evo catback. Also the Magnaflow cats come with either 0, 1, or 2 O2 bungs, and with/without air? So what Magnaflow cat part# do I need?

I believe Dingleweed has the same setup I'm going for minus the cat. Help Dingleweed?

I got the same deal only I split it with another member here. We paid 380 plus 75 to ship seperately to us. I got the headers, he got the exhaust. Total for headers including shipping was 215. I wanted to give my money to nextgen too but 215 shipped??? How could I.

Man.. I have the Header/exhaust combo.. IT IS LOUD!!! Almost unbearable. I recommend buying a hi-flow cat or something if you have this combo.. Especially if you take the silencers out!

I might go in with a guy in town (tiburon_balla) on this setup... I'll take the headers, he gets the exhaust. Not a bad deal. I want to get the headers and see how it runs with the stock exhaust. I actually like the sound of the stock exhaust.... plus I think a little more restriction will let me keep some of that good low end torque.

Hard to beat that deal, tho!

hell yea matt, you'll definitely love the low end torque the headers add. its crazy the pull that headers add. i cant wait to do this cuz me want rumble!

The rumble is one thing, the rattley sound is another!

The headers do not add low end tourque at all. Not even close. The effect is more of a low end tourque loss but a very nice high end gain.

the headers with stock exhaust sounds great. I had just got used to that sound when I bought the matching exhaust.. Now its no limit with the noise :)

hmm.....well i feel it more in the low end than anything

The intake I put on really seems to have affected the low end torque. I'm sure that whatever the affect, headers will be a definite positive affect overall.

Balla, I'm going to be doing my taxes Telefile real soon, so hopefully I'll have the $$ in the next few weeks. I'll let you know, then we'll have to get that $hit and install 'em on our cars...

I have the Key Performance Headers..and I am so glad I got them before they went away. A cat is almost a must if you plan on doing headers. I got the Magnaflow cat and sold the key cat. I also have a dynomax exhaust system. From what I saw when we were putting the headers on..you should get a cat.

sweet dude. Telefile goes real quick... I think the check will hit my bank in two or three weeks if I recall how quick it went last year. I'll need your help getting the headers installed... I'll buy the beer ;) I also want to help with your exhaust.. I wanna see how it's done, in case I decide to get a catback sometime.

(I think I'll take the AC compressor off for the header install to avoid breakin anything ;) )

yup yup, that'd be me. headers r my only engine mod. u can definitely feel the pull and theyre not very loud. they have a kind of raspy sound to them.

did you read the thread? I said several posts above that it sounds good with the stock exhaust. ::)

I'm looking at the magnaflow Cats but am confused on which part# I need. Do you know which part# to fit between the OBX headers and a Greddy Evo catback which I believe is 60mm? The magnaflow cats also have an option for air/no air, whatever that means? as well as 2, 1 or no bungs?

Thanks

I am thinking about getting a CAT just to get rid of the rattle that you get with no cats at all but I am getting used to the race car sound and I think I am actually starting to like it.

I'd have to agree with Jackmcnasty....I'm starting to get used to that growl in the high rpms...just sounds raspy down low.

I have the stock piping but removed mufflers with my headers and the sound is LOUD. Almost civicish loud....but once you get on it...theres no mistaking that v6 under the hood.

So my headers arrived today. As stupid as it may seem... the longer black bolts are for connecting the header pieces together and the short two bolts are for connecting the race pipe to the headers right?
