You mean lambo doors, right?

Quote:
"gull-wing doors" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gull-wing_doors) : The term gull-wing door is used to describe automobile doors which are hinged at the roof. They are so named because, when opened, the doors evoke the image of a seagull's wings.
Quote:
"lambo doors", "butterfly doors", "vertical doors" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Butterfly_doors) : Butterfly doors is a variant of the gull-wing doors that open up and forwards rather than straight up. Lamborghini have used it on some of their models. It was introduced in the Lamborghini Countach whose unusually wide chassis mandated the unusual door configuration. The design was carried forward to the Countach's successor, the Lamborghini Diablo. The only current Lamborghini in production which uses this design is the Murciélago.

I think the concensus on "gull wings" was they couldn't be done on the Tib.

As for the reason why they cost so much, I think it's based on the company producing the kits. They've invested time, effort and $$$ in doing the R&D and production of their product and can pretty much ask what they feel is a fair price.

Me personally, I'd likely be leery of a vertical door kit that was "economical" (say $200-$300 range).

Here is how the sheep and the sheepdog think differently. The sheep pretend the wolf will never come, but the sheepdog lives for that day.

I used to love "Perfect Strangers" with Cousin Larry and Balki Bartakomous. He had a catch phrase, "Of course it is, don't be ridiculous."

Yeah,....I never would have pinned Pinchot for being such a horndog.

He's all about the nookie...

P.S. I said nookie...it was ironic...not in a Alanis Morrissette sort of a way, in a real sense...

Re: gull wings

no, not lambo doors, scissor doors are on a disc pivot at the original hinge point., they are pushed up by passive actuators/shock mounts( like the ones that push your hatchback up)
kits go on sale on Ebay, but they're so damn expensive. looks cool as hell though.
