No spark, No Start, ingnition coil checked

Im doing a Diy.

1. Tiburon 97 manual, 2.0L engine
2. Changed a crank sensor and oil filter
3. Car was starting fine, took a drive for 5minutes came back, park it.
After few minutes i started it again and there was a knocking sound, the knocking sound becomes quite when on full clutch.
4.then car starts and switches off automatically, it will then starts the following day.
5. Now car wont start at all, No spark also.
6. I took out the ignition coil and tested it on another tiburon, it worked.

Cool Re: No spark, No Start, ingnition coil checked

Welcome to NT.

I moved your thread out of "car care" which is more for cleaning, waxing, etc.

Was everything working fine BEFORE you swapped the crank sensor? F so, why did you swap it?

Did you check to see if the crank sensor was still plugged in? Have you tried putting the old one back in?

Any other work done recently, if so, what?

My car: 1998 Legacy GT wagon, 2.5L, 5MT, 176K miles, "Quicksilver", not stock and not slow...

Hi

Thanks for the reply, before the swap the car was not starting, it was cranking.
A local mechanic told me i should check the crank sensor and so i did.
I found it was damaged .

My last job was checking the ignition coil.

Re: No spark, No Start, ingnition coil checked

How did you check the ignition coil on your car? Did you try putting a spark plug in a plug wire and touching it to metal and seeing if it sparks?

An modern engine needs 4 things to run. Fuel, Air, Spark and a fully functioning ECU to run it.

Do you know how to verify you have fuel pressure?

Are there any fuses blown?

Is the battery putting out at least 11.5 volts while sitting and not dipping below 11 while cranking? A weak battery can cause all sorts of issues.

Huffin E85 and lovin every minute of it!!

Re: No spark, No Start, ingnition coil checked

Was the new crankshaft sensor from a Hyundai dealer? There are a lot of cheap knock off sensors out there that are either incorrect and don't work or might fail after a couple uses.

Yes its a Hyundai dealer, but it might be knock off.

Update:
Today the engine started with no problem, I let it run for few minutes.
Then there was a grinding sound, when on clutch the grinding sound stops.
Then I put it on gear 1 to test drive, it suddenly shut off.
When trying to turn it on again. It just cranks.
I checked the spark today and there was one.

What could this mean?
Is is the crankshaft, Camshaft or ignition coil.
Something wrong with the transmission

Re: No spark, No Start, ingnition coil checked

My guess is faulty crank sensor. The noise you hear that goes away when you push in the clutch could be a failing clutch throwout bearing.
