Re: The Official IOWA Thread

Johnston is cool. In fact I just moved back home to Iowa from San Antonio Texas. Urbandale is nice that where my Dad lives. Also you might want to look out by Jordan Creek but your going to pay more out there. Let me know if you need any help I can show you around.

Re: The Official IOWA Thread

buwahhahahahaha. i keeeeeeed i keeeeeed lol.

well since now i got a few of you coming in here more often now i got some ?'s

laws for cars and what not.

1. How is th elaws with Window tint?? here in IL you can tint ur back window and ur back side window as much as u want but u cannot touch the front sides or front.

2. i know there is no emissions just like IL.

3. What about speeding laws?? I know here in IL speeding if you are say 19mph over there speedlimit its a 75 dollar ticket, if ur 20-29mph over its 95 and 30 and over is wreckless driving.

4. Also about licensing, here in IL you renew ur sticker every year for 75 bucks for regular paltes, whats it cost there??

i think thats it for now.

Re: The Official IOWA Thread

I know your not able to tint you drive/passenger side window, but you can your back. I moved up here from texas about 2 years ago and I have my driver/passenger sides tinted and my back blacked out. I have never had any problem so far with it. My sides are lighter than my rear but you can still tell. I don't know about the speeding ticket thing. I know down in san antonio you can buy your way out of tickets, but here they have some kind of mark system, that I'm really not sure on how it works.

Re: The Official IOWA Thread

jesus ****, ya i heard they base ur renewal on how much ur car is worth, i mean really wtf is up with that. that means mine woudl cost like 250-300, hmm i may just list my dads house as where i live so i can keep getting IL plates and what not. Plus i could get away with tint if they did pull me over as i do not live there lol. or do I? lol

i woudl def not get my stuff changed till my plates from Il runs out in Aug thats for damn sure.

Re: The Official IOWA Thread

I live in Northwest Iowa. Like 30 minutes from sioux city. Yea, it was like 3 in the morning and i had to bring my gf home. I stopped drinking like 2 hours before i left and i felt fine. I only had to drive about 5 blocks so i thought everything would be cool. There wasnt a single car on the roads, except me, and one cop. Ha, what are the chances? But yea, i was a block away from my g/f's house when i got pulled over. I blew a .09 in the car and he said i was close so he would give me another one when we got to the station. I got there and blew into a machine that takes 2 different readings. They give you .5 tenths of a lee way. So i blew and the first test was a .084, so with the 5 tenths i was still under. But the second test i blew a .85 so i was right on .08. I dont know if this all confuses you guys but i can tell you it was a long night and i will never do it again. Not even 1 block. I get my license back may 15 so im not gonna be able to make the meet in cedar falls. it sucks

Re: The Official IOWA Thread

ehh a few are really nice.

jordan and cross creek are like 585/month for a 2br apt.
however pointewest and westpointe and signature are around the 650-800/month for a 1 br but they are huge and super nice and have attached garages.

we will see when i go up there. im thinking about making appointments to go up this saturday to take alook at some.

Re: The Official IOWA Thread

Gerth, do what I do... register your car at your parents house in IL and then do WHATEVER THE **** YOU WANT to your car. Just... don't drive in IL with it. My car is registered at my friend's apartment over there. Anytime I get pulled over for things like window tint or anything, they just lecture me about it and let me go... because I can't get a ticket since my car isn't licensed in MO.

Re: The Official IOWA Thread

I bought my car in st. louis and for taxes, license, and registration, it was over 1,000. That really kicks you in the ass. Ive never bought a car in iowa before so i wouldnt know if it is expensive or not. You wouldnt think anything would be expensive in IOWA cuz the rest of the country thinks we ride on a horse to school everday. hahaha
