Hi, I started to go out and do this. I got my car on the 27th of May, so still a little timid with it. I can't even seem to get the handle off on the door panel, I may just being a baby but I'm scared it will break so I was just curious if anyone had advice. I tried using a flathead screw driver but it didn't seem to budge.

Thanks for your time and answers

(If I get this done I will have pictures.)

you didn't sand down ALL the pieces? I just dont want my paint to chip off, but I never wetsanded anything and dont even know what kind of sandpaper or where to get it- I dont want it to be uneven looking from sanding. =[

am I able to use that rustoleum stuff?

well i decided to tackle on this project yesterday and stared off good but ended bad, everything came off easy and just the filler primer got it sanded down nice, looking good so far. but my mistake was the paint i chose, it was metallic interior and when i sprayed it on it ran instantly into bubbles and splotches. stupid me tried to primer over that and it bled threw and cracked, so then i had to take off all the paint and changed color and now it turned out pretty crappy, ill have to redo all of it next weekened =/

oh man that sucks =[ The color I chose is a metallic purple. =[[ I dont want it to all bubble up.
My dad was telling me not to sand it before primer, and just clean it really really good and the paint will stick and not chip off.....
anyone else tried a metallic paint and have good results?
oh mannnnnn =[[[[[[

make sure the primer is the same type and compatible with the colour coat. Also, make sure it is fully dry. I did a plastic primer and silver metallic on my interior plastic pieces and so far (2 months) they are very durable, hard, and shiny.

sniper SC etc.

When I did my car, I didn't sand at all. All I did was clean up the plastic, primer, paint and clear coat. Looks really good.

alright.. I'm really nervous about doing this..
I am gonna go to the junk yard and maybe find a peice of plastic similar to one of the interior pieces and going to practice, because I have no idea if this purple is going to turn out right for me.
I am stuck in between two different purples. One mettalic and one not, and the metallic one says that it is for chrome and metal, but I'm using it on plastic? So IDK =[[[[[ oh yikes- Just want it to be purple, I dont want it to look girly glittery or lavender- yuck!

just hold it a good 6---8 inches away and do even coats and it should come out fine with no runs but practice makes perfect

ok, so I got to the color coat, and I'm going to be putting the gloss on it today.
so my issue is, When i put the primer on, I sanded it afterwards with 1500 grit wetsand paper, and afterwards, it came all verrry smooth like a baby's butt-- well, I got the color on, and its all rugged feeling like the primer was before I had sanded it. So my question is, should I sand it down before I put the gloss on it? Or will the gloss even it out and make it feel and look smooth again? I read the can, and it didn't say anything about evening the bumps and what-not. Will sanding it like I did to the primer make any discolorations or sanding ridges in the paint?

ok so I finally did mine, and took the time to make this DIY video. I had to split it into 3 parts because of youtube. Also, heres the pics of the final product. This vid only covers the radio panel, center vent rings, and those small circle vents in the dash.

So I just noticed two things from your video.....
1. you can take the center vent ring itself off of the housing by pushing the other 2 clips that just hold the ring in place rather than spray the entire vent assembly.
2. You never gave me a shout out in your video!

PS.... I like the purple... definately different!

Looks good, I've changed the interior color in mine 3 different times and I actually took out the entire dash to do it so I pretty much know everything you need to do about taking apart your interior lol

I followed this DIY to the letter and it turned out looking amazing! Only thing I didnt account for, leaving the parts an extra night on the deck to dry, forgetting they were there and letting the dog out in the morning so she could use them for new chew toys

I hope those vids help. that hazard button was a pain in the @$$.. I didn't realize the little bulb went in and you had to twist it to get it to stay into place. I thought somehow it just sat in there, and every time i tried putting the button back in, the hazard light wasnt working. I tried tape, but that made things worse, and ended up figuring it out, but by that time it was too late and the bulb had broken form me getting pissed at the damn thing.. (made me miss the pirogi fest =[[[ ) Thats also why the last part I just gave up taping because it was too difficult to hold the camera, while trying to point things out, while trying to put the pieces back in.
More vids will be to come soon once I start on the rest of the pieces.
Anyone know how to get that silver ring off the gear shift and being able to put it back? I dont want to tape it all off and spray it while still in the car, and want to be able to leave it off for a bit to dry and still use my car..

lets drive...fast =D
