I bought a 2003 Tiburon GT about 3 months ago. The car originally had the infinity system in it, but the previous owner replaced the head unit with an Alpine CDA-9856. I am in the process of redoing the whole system....my question is about the speaker depth for the front and rear speakers. I had gone to crutchfield and asked, but couldnt get a straight answer....anyway...I want to go with the Alpine type R's in the front and rear powered by a 4 channel amp.

Anyone know if the 6.5 type r's fit in the front doors without any major modification? I do know that the type R 6x9's fit with no modification.

I am going to get the 6x9's regardless, but if the 6.5's dont fit, then I need another option. Are their any other 6.5's that fit without modification that you guys have personally used?

I'll spare you the usual flaming since you are new to the site but in the future, use the search button. There are literally dozens of threads covering this question.

The fronts are 6 1/2 - 6 3/4 but I understand 5 1/4's will fit with an adapter ring.
The rears are made for 6 x 9's but they are, in actuality, 6 1/2's in a 6 x 9 mounting

As far as the depths, Crutchfield lists the depths of the speakers. Just use a tape measure and check the depth and compare. I doubt you can get a 6 x 9 in the front opening without modding it. At least, that's how it appeared to me when I looked a few weeks ago.
