Old 2004 hyundai tiburon gt electrical problems 08-19-2009 , 08:26 PM

I have a 2004 hyundai tiburon gt. i drove home from work, turned off the car, ran into the house, and jumped back in to drive some trash up to the dumpster in my apartment complex. I tried starting it up and it just mad a clicking sound. the dash lights and door lights lit up and started to flicker along with the clock display (which reset to 1:00).

Also, when i left the key in the ignition and turned it, all the lights would dim, then light back up if i didnt try to start the car.

is this a dead / dying battery or something more severe?

I'd say your battery is probably dead. Do you know how old the battery is?

i would take it to autozone or someone similar, they can check your alternator for free, becuase that may also be the problem. but it does sound like the battery.

Yea I would probably just install a new battery yourself. Have it tested before you drop your cash on a new one though.
