Car of the Month (
COTM) is back~~!!
What is COTM? COTM is a venue and an opportunity for a hard-modding member such as yourself to be recognized for your effort, dedication, ingenuity, creativity, and technical/artistic prowess that you put into making your Tiburon
your own.
Since there are so many different approaches to customizing a Tiburon and "making it your own," each month a different category will be chosen to give recognition to both the car and driver.
What is Best Picture of the Month and how do I participate?
In addition to a COTM contest for a given month, a
Best Picture of the Month (of the Tiburon, of course) contest will be held at the same time as COTM, each month, throughout the year.
Participation is simple. In the Best Picture of the Month Submission thread, post a SINGLE shot of a Tiburon [model years 2003-2008]. Only one shot per member (if you have many great shots, save them for the next month). The picture of the Tiburon
has to be your own Tiburon--you can, however, have
other people take shots of your Tiburon.
Picture submissions will be collected during the first two weeks of the month, narrowed down to five finalists, then voted upon by the general public in the third week to choose the single best picture. The winning picture will be announced at the end of the 3rd week.
Some restrictions: Although you may do some slight Photoshop work to the picture to clean it up, you may not put in fake backgrounds and colors. Also, do
NOT include words, frames, and borders to the picture. Any nominating picture that appears to be heavily doctored up (fake) will be deleted and disqualified.
When the 5 finalist pictures are being chosen, consideration will be given to the following:
[1] Quality of the Picture
[2] Effort put into the setting for the picture (e.g., background, motion shot)
[3] Angle of the shot (that flatters the style and good-looks of the Tiburon)
[4] Coolness factor
Also, when you post your picture, include the following information:
[1] Model year and color of the Tiburon
[2] The name of the Tiburon owner (screen name is fine)
[3] The name of the photographer (screen name is fine)
[2] Date the picture was taken
How does one participate in the COTM competition? It's simple. When the COTM Nomination thread goes live, just post in the nomination thread to nominate yourself (you cannot nominate someone else, although you may encourage other member(s) to nominate themselves through PM's, posts, emails, etc.
Along with a self-nominating statement (e.g., "I nominate myself," "Me~!!"), list down the relevant mods on your car for that category you're competing in as well as the accompanying pictures (refer to the
"Requirements" for each COTM category as different categories have different rules and requirements).
Once all the nominations have been collected in the
first two weeks of the month, the number of nominees will be reduced to
five finalists (if necessary) by the Staff. Once the five finalists have been chosen, a new thread for voting will be posted for the public to come in and cast their vote. The voting period will last during the third week of the month. (If there are any ties in the voting, the Staff will vote for the winner). At the end of the third week, the winning COTM car and driver will be announced.
Before the winner is announced, each finalist will be PM'ed a list of questions to answer about him/herself, his/her car, and his/her project(s). Timely and fully completed answers to the questions are mandatory. If you win the COTM contest but don't have the questionnaire filled out by the deadline, then you'll lose the contest and the winner will be the next runner-up with the completed questionnaire. Don't worry--personal/private questions will not be asked. Just simple and pertinent questions.
At the end of the voting period, the single winner for that month's COTM category will be announced with a new thread created just for the winning car and driver for recognition.
Are there any restrictions to participating in the COTM contest? Yes. If you have been voted a winner for a COTM category in a given calendar year, you ARE NOT eligible for another COTM contest of the same category until the given calendar year ends. For instance, let's say you won the "Best Clean Ride/Exterior" for the month of March of 2010. Since you've already won a COTM "Best Clean Ride/Exterior" contest in 2010, you cannot participate in another "Best Clean Ride/Exterior" COTM contest until 2011.
Also, if you win a COTM competition, you cannot participate in another COTM contest, although it's for a different category, for 4 months.
**Exception: You may participate in the "Best Picture of the Month" contest every month, whether you've already won in that contest previously or not.

*** COTM: Clean Ride/Exterior ***
The car will be judged based on its aesthetics and "cleanliness." The focus is placed on how well each exterior body modifications (lightly modded or heavily modded) flow well in relation to each other.
Key Terms: "Flow," "Balance," "Clean," and "Tasteful"
Requirements:
[1] List of all pertinent exterior mods that will help you in the contest.
[2] Pictures (3 mandatory, 5 optional, total of 8 pictures)
1 pic of straight-up front end
1 pic of straight-up rear end
1 pic of direct profile (sideview) pic. These 3 pictures at the specified angle are
mandatory.
You may submit up to 5 additional pictures of the exterior of the car of your choice (any angle).
[3] (optional) You may post up a video that showcases the exterior of your car. Only ONE video is allowed (maximum run length of 1 minute) and the video will count as a picture.
*** COTM: Clean Ride/Interior ***
The car will be judged based on its aesthetics and "cleanliness." The focus is placed on how well each interior modifications (lightly modded or heavily modded) flow well in relation to each other.

Requirements:
[1] List of all pertinent interior mods that will help you in the contest.
[2] Pictures (4 mandatory, 4 optional, total of 8 pictures)
1 pic of interior from passenger's-side (with passenger's-side door open)
1 pic of interior from driver's-side (with driver's-side door open)
1 pic from inside the car that shows the entire dashboard, dashboard gauge cluster, climate control, and the center fascia.
1 pic of the trunk (straight shot picture, not tilted or angled picture)
You may submit up to 4 additional pictures of the interior of the car of your choice (any angle).
[3] (optional) You may post up a video that showcases the interior of your car. Only ONE video is allowed (maximum run length of 1 minute) and the video will count as a picture.
*** COTM: Best Audio/ICE ***
The car will be judged based on its audio/ICE components. The quality and reputation of the audio/ICE components will be considered as well as the neatness, artfulness, and "cleanliness" of the install.

Requirements:
[1] List of all pertinent audio/ICE mods that will help you in the contest.
[2] Pictures (Total of 8 pictures).
1 straight-up pic of the trunk with the hatch open and audio equipment shown (not tilted or angled) (Mandatory)
If an audio/ICE mod is mentioned in the above list, you MUST take a picture of each mod/component (any angle). (Mandatory)
Including the mandatory pictures, you may post up to a total 8 pictures.
[3] (optional) You may post up a video to show off any interesting/cool mechanisms of your audio system. If the video will record music, post only "clean" music with no offensive lyrics (e.g., racist remarks/phrases, slangs, slurs).
Only ONE video is allowed (maximum run length of 1 minute) and the video will count as a picture.
*** COTM: Best Hellaflush ***
The car will be judged based on its appeal derived from the chosen rims/tires and suspension modifications. Consideration is placed on how the drop improves the look/stance/aggressiveness of the car.
