Old __*** How to Do a DIY Clutch Job on a Tiburon's Pull-Type Clutch System ***__ 09-06-2010 , 05:17 PM

I see many, many threads pop up on how to go about doing a clutch job on our Tiburons with similar questions:

[1] What can I expect from a clutch install job?
[2] How does things look like in a clutch job?
[3] How do I remove the throw-out bearing (TOB)?
[4] How do I correctly install the TOB?

...and more.

Here are two videos that will help you visualize a clutch job on our Tiburons, which utilizes a pull-type clutch system.

For additional information relating to a clutch type on our jobs, refer to hmaservice.com. Make a free account and you have access to DIY instructions for almost everything on our cars.

Yeah I stumbled on these when we were trying to figure out the issue with my clutch plates hub being raised to high/too large a diameter. Great watch & a good find!

Thanks for this post!!! Very imformative. Never performed a pull type clutch. Glad i seen this and not make the mistake of installing the throw out bearing on the pressure plate.

Tips for beta owners:

Pull the engine and leave the transmission in the car to replace the clutch. Don't drop the transmission.

If your wiggling the engine and it won't separate, you forgot to release the tob. Take off the nut and arm on the fork. Make sure you don't pull the piston out of the slave cylinder too far. They don't have a stopper and once the piston falls out of the cylinder, it will never seal again. Then pull up on the fork.

Once you go rotary, you never go back.
