Old DIY Fog Ring Removal 01-25-2004 , 09:47 AM

The rings are held on by 4 clips and one screw. The clips are at 1,4,7,10 O'clock positions and the screw is located at the 9 position.
The screw head will break through the bumper when you pry the ring off but this isn't any big deal as the clips will hold on your new rings fine.

Heres a pic of the back of the ring.

Heres a pic of the bumper with the ring off.

Place a small pocket screwdriver on the inside of the ring. Put it in far enough so you hit the outer lip of the ring itself. Push the end of the screwdriver towards the light itself thus popping off that part of the ring. I recommend putting the screwdriver next to each clip and popping off one clip at a time.

Heres a pic of where the screwdriver should be placed.

Enjoy your new rings! DD

Always remember you're unique......just like everyone else.

you dont take out the screw...you yank it out....you wont be able to screw it back on...but the 4 clips would hold the rings good enough....

Wow, this was the easiest thing I've ever done to a car lol. Just try and push the SMALL screwdriver in as far as you can get it and the clips will just pop right off. Once you 2 out, you just use your hands to get the rest out. As for the screw, it really isn't that big of a deal. The hole it left was really small and clean... don't stress it and remove the whole bumper. Took 2 minutes

Just out of courosity why cant you just take out your headlight and remove the screw? Why do you have to break stuff?

Actually, it's no big deal to remove the bumper and attack it from the back. I actually took the time to clean up my fog light assemblies and used the little screw on the new fog rings. I did this same installation for Mike (Phreaky53). Yeah, I could have done it quicker going through the front, but I don't like breaking stuff.

So... I'm trying to put my yellow fog vinyls on, what's the best way to do that? Should I remove the bumper or break it from the front? (How do I remove the bumper anyway?) It doesn't seem right to break it though, seeing as I'm going to put it right back on.
