Help: I am 4'10" Woman and I am looking to buy a Tiburon! Will I fit?

I don't really like cars but I think the Tiburon is nice looking so I made an offer on an 03 GT stick. I am jut worried that I will not reach the pedals.

Any smaller girls out there driving these?

Help me out. Thanks

Min

Re: Help: I am 4'10" Woman and I am looking to buy a Tiburon! Will I fit?

My girlfriend is 5'4" and when she adjusts the seat to be comfortable to clutch completely, she's pretty close to the steering. Being 6" smaller I can just imagine you will be even closer.

But just a question like this... if you made an offer... it means you have seen the car and that you have done a test drive with it? Also, I hope you got an inspection from a professional... the car being 14 years old, it really needs to be checked before buying.

The seats are mounted pretty low so I'd be more worried about seeing over the steering wheel and high cowl.

That's one of the few things I like about this car. Makes me feel secure for some reason. I'm 6' tall though.

Re: Help: I am 4'10" Woman and I am looking to buy a Tiburon! Will I fit?

I agree with NewTibOwner and Acura_Kal. Some pedal adjustment/alteration may be desirable so that you aren't so close to the steering wheel. An aftermarket, non-airbag steering wheel may help by placing the steering wheel closer to the dash but that may not be acceptable if you are subject to a safety compliance inspection by a government agency.

I'm at 5'8" and with my racing seat placed 1"-2" lower than stock seat height the angle of my sight line over the dash and hood is noticeably decreased to where I do have to solely rely on visualizing where the front corners of my car are at (as opposed to having a confidence inspiring view of the front corners).

Try to find one and physically sit in it before you finalize the transaction for the one you are considering.

Good luck to you!

I smell blood...

I'm 5'8" but tend to sit more upright/attentive, with that being said I have to mention that it can be somewhat straining sometimes to reach behind the headrest to grab my seatbelt. With you being shorter your seat will be even closer to the steering wheel and farther from the seatbelt. So be sure to do a few "seatbelt grabs" and make sure it's comfortable for you. Maybe I just need to stretch more.

My wife is mid 5', she sits rather low in the car, but has no issues driving it although better sightlines would help.

As mentioned, go drive one now if possible. It can be possible to do a GOOD engineering job of making brackets to bolt between the bottom of the seat rails to the floor. This will raise you up but does not address the pedal reach. The mount adaptors could also slide the seat forward a bit as well.

Like people said just go sit in the one your making an offer in before handing over the cash. IMHO one of the major drawbacks of the Tiburon is the non telescoping steering wheel. It can make it really hard to find the ideal driving position.
