Keep snapping flywheel bolts

So I snapped two flywheel bolts trying 94 pounds of torque. Am I better off using 70 pounds and loctite. Also noticed the bolt has hour glass shape fromy a side view. Dealer appears to be out of bolts. Can I grab some grade 8 bolts from ace or something out of desperation?

I thought they were 55 ft lb. confirm with the toque specs with the dealer. Also try calling KIA dealers with the part number.

Have you tried this website?

https://www.hyundaioemparts.com

The workshop manual says that the tightening torque is 11-16lbs per feet for a single mass flywheel and 14-19lbs for a dual mass

According to all data it's 94ish. Unless that was a typo...would make sense that I'm breaking bolts...but taking them off felt like 200 pounds of torque

Re: Keep snapping flywheel bolts

I looked under:
Engine
Trans
Clutch

And saw no listing for a flywheel bolt torque.

Another source I have lists the flywheel or flexplate at 55ftlbs.

Wifes car: 2004 Tib GT, 2.7L, 5MT, 193K miles, medium blue, basically stock.
My car: 1998 Legacy GT wagon, 2.5L, 5MT, 176K miles, "Quicksilver", not stock and not slow...

I'm not sure then. Try asking on the Hyundai Coupe Owners Club website or try emailing them on this website as the guy who runs it Ross pretty much knows everything there is to know about the Tiburon
