Oh Dude! That sucks big time!!!

I know there is NO bright side to this, but with the low miles your bores and heads are gonna still be nice (except maybe for #4 & #6) so a rebuild with GOOD pistons won't cost you huge amounts of dough. Set of pistons & rings, gaskets, a couple possible bent valves & a bit of bore work.

If bores 4&6 are clean, I think you can do it right in the car!

Re: Compression check on my engine

did you do a wet test? if the compression goes back up with a wet test then its just the rings and thats an easy enough job to do with the motor still in the car.

Did you do a wet compression as well, or only dry? Try a leak down test also.

Re: Compression check on my engine

ITs not a terribly difficult job. It can be done with the motor in the car. Just have to have the right tools.

Condolences again, Peace. All I can suggest is what I would do. Your situation may be much different. Kinda depends on if you want to continue the boosted path or just get back on the road for cheap.

1) Resign yourself to the fact that something is busted. There's no magic fix. Take a deep breath or two. maybe inhale a few beers, if that's your thing.

2) Tear it down. Right in the car. It's gotta come apart anyway, so get on it. Label everything as you go. Take digital pics. You gotta get that front head off before you can make any assessment.

3) IF it's only rings, (and I bet it's more) drop the pan. Pull the dead holes. Run a rough glaze-break hone in those cylinders. Clean out ALL the grit. Gap new rings and reassemble.

BUT more likely, and I would go this way anyway... You find busted pistons: drop the pan, pull all 6 holes, install forged low compression pistons with properly gapped rings, glaze-break cylinders, clean and reassemble. You're now ready for more boost!

If the bores are damaged tho, you gotta pull the block and get them fixed. If this is the case, you need to really decide, financially & eslewise, which direction to go.
A: More dependable H.P. (more $) or B: cheap "get her back on the road" fix.

A: may mean buy an NGM already done and part out your engine for some money recovery. (I would build my own perf engine. that's just me)

B: means call some wrecking yards and find a low-miler to drop in. Sell the Stealth and move on. Many have gone this route.

No easy choices. Sorry. We'll help if we can.

Re: Compression check on my engine

why would i want lower compression forged pistons. Why not just stock forged. I dont want to go the trouble of honing the walls out.

If you ever want to go to more boost, and if you need to replace pistons, install the "forged blower" pistons. They have lower compression to handle more boost. If no more boost, stay stock.

AFA cylinder honing: you must hone the cylinders that get new rings or they won't seat properly. Not a major hone. Just a drill run glaze-breaker hone like they sell @ NAPA.

Re: Compression check on my engine

yep it happens. sucks it happend to me. but im going to buy the ross forged racing pistons. That are 10:1:1. So they just slide in. Im not going to do anything more then 350 whp anyway. the bottom end wont hold it stable. Zaion is only living on borrowed time.

Duh me!!! My bad I saw solid aluminum front mount and automatically thought he was intercooled, wasn't thinking about the actual engine mount. Reading owns me..then again I have chinky eyes...but yeah man that sucks, but hey as bad as you feel right now, it is not the end of the world..
