Apparently they still make them, but unless you want to wait a year pay $10k and import it I would steer clear of Alpine. They operate out of South Africa since their dealings in the US were less than acceptable.

Since Apline's horrifying business secrets have been revealed, and Ripp no longer produces a supercharger for the Tibby because of their poor electronics/rep, is it safe to say that the NGM unit is the only option as of now?

Hey I was just wondering, if I get this supercharger installed and lets say it brings the stock V6 2.7L to 200+ WHP, would this require me to change my clutch to a stage 1 or 2 in order to keep up with the performance? Would there be any other things I would need to add or change?

Thanks.

Stock clutches barely hold stock horsepower so yes you'll need a higher capacity clutch WILL be required for ANY forced induction upgrade.

Hey there.

We have a supercharged stage 0 version of the old RIPP kit we modified to run the way it wasd intended to making about 230whp at 4 psi. It's still running the stock clutch and flywheel, and has been for about 10k miles. That being said, the stocker will take the power, for a while. The customer is looking to upgrade to the 6 psi pulley here pretty soon though, and we're going to be outfitting his car with the stage 3 clutchmasters clutch and flywheel, which still has a sprung hub for stock feeling driveability but will take the power we're expecting our customer's car to put down with a little more boost and some tuning.

Re: The Ultimate Supercharger Thread

Well, for one, i joined the Marine Corps and with everything that that entails i didnt really have enough time to devote to making quality product for you guys. Obviously there were a lot of other factors. However, next month (around the 1st) i'm going to be coming back as a sponsor again.

Btw Brownnote, i only disappeared once, lol. I didnt own the company the first time they went away. I am not planning on going anywhere again anytime soon though.

Why should you be interested in what i have? Well for one, because it's much more available than the eaton units, 2, because i have 2 cars that have clicked off 10K miles with the current stage 0 setup of ours and have no issues other than popping a once in a while high maf input code which can be fixed with a voltage clamp or reset by starting the car 3 times. The way we have it set up right now the cars are running like butter though... and 3, because im not trying to get a fortune for the upgrades.

If you guys have any questions about the kit or anything throw them out there i'll answer them as well as i can.

Well im planning on running a group buy interest thread once i come back up on the boards as a sponsor, soooo, depending on how many kits i can actually make happen for people is going to determine the sale price... last time i wanted to run this kit at $3200 retail when i was trying to get the interest up before. Alot of people were interested but not a lot of people who actually were ready to commit to a purchase. As it sits though the cost of the blower/shaft components has gone up on my end so the cost of the kit as it sits is going to go up a bit. However, we have figured in a few extras that weren't included with the previous version, so in reality you're just getting more stuff with the setup for around the same ballpark price. RIPP ran their entry level kit at $3999.95, so we're probably going to put it out there retail for a couple hundred dollars less than that, however, if the group buy goes well we should be able to make an even better cut in price than that.

Anyone interested in what the kit is going to come with nowadays?

Lol depends what you want....here are your options:

NGM sniper stage 0,1 if you want about 200whp and you don't want to spend money on a new clutch, flywheel, engine....this is the way to go

NGM sniper stage 2, 3 If you want 220-265 whp....these kits start getting more expensive as you will need to remap your ecu and buy additional components to hold the power

NGM assassin - wouldn't do it unless a) you have a lot of money to buy addtional things for your car and b) if you don't know that much about your car don't do it

Good luck!...As far as superchargers go id say go with a ngm because you will have a lot of support in this website... If i were you id use the search bar as well before you ask simple questions like that because it's all a matter of how much power you want + how much money you have to spend/risk

Black 2008 GT - Tein S-tech springs, INJEN intake, 20% tint, SFR HID 6000K HL, 17x8 Sparco Drift w/ Kumho SPTs, HU NAV Pioneer 700BT, Blue/White HL LED Turn Signal, Escort Passport SRX, Custom exhaust w/ VIP quad tips, Ralco STS, RippMods SDS Stage 1 S/C

Very helpfull post!! Thinking about a Stage 2, or 3. But what´s the difference between a 2 and 3 and what parts needs to be replaced to make it hold the power? My profile says Newbie, and it is for a reason

I wish they would carry the hard parts to make instead of the kits, I can save more money piecing one together than spending 4 grand on a kit...
