OBD2 USB Tuner Safe?

I was wondering if little tuners like this are safe for use of a stock ecu? I'm on a limited budget and would like to try but I do not want it to corrupt my ecu. I would save a backup first of course but just wondering. Thanks.

You cant tune/reflash our ECU with cheap
Ebay tuners. You will an specific tool to do so.
Last one to offer the tool was NGM many years ago. Fiebruz MAYBE in Puerto Rico but you have to send yours. Your best option is to check for sale second hand reflashed ECUs

Those are just junk that don’t do anything. All those cheap options are just a scam. The only way to tune our cars is to reflash the ecu or get a tuneable piggyback or stand alone ecu. If your budget is that limited, you should probably just wait until you have enough money put away to start buying real mods.

Would you recommend any piggy back ecus? I just didn't want to go with a standalone ecu for other reasons.

I know the aem fic and the perfect power Smt-8 have come up here a few times. I’m sure some people with more experience will chime in, I’m a stand alone type of guy. But first, what are your goals? What are you hoping to get out of the piggyback? Are you going to be modifying anything or are you just going to be putting it on a completely stock set up?

I would like to eventually put a nos setup in, but currently it would go in with a water meth kit, possibly a waste I know but I would like to try it out. Which I was I don't want a standalone and a fuel/ignition piggy back would be more cost effective in my opinion but I also don't know to much in this department. Feel free to correct any of my misunderstandings. Thanks

You could look into getting a Megasquirt 2 with extra which would give you the tuning abilities you want and be able to control the aux injection with the same device. Technically it is a standalone, of course, but isn't terribly difficult to set up for only fuel and ignition control or way expensive. I'm afraid there are few piggyback units that will allow the control you want WITH the auxiliary injection control.
Good luck
