FS: Shady's RIPP Vortech For Parts

Rough night tonight. Took car apart a few months ago because the icebox intercooler pump went out. Icebox was getting a new bracket welded on to hold an upgraded pump. It's getting cold here, so I backed car out of garage and let it idle to burn up some gas and run Stabil through it. Unfortunately, radiator fans didn't kick in (my fault) coolant boiled and I'm assuming smoked my block.

It was a great run with the car and prior to this it ran like stock and put almost 500 to the tire with perfect reliability. Hate to see it end this way, but it's proof I just didn't have time for the car anymore.

I'm assuming significant damage to the block, but I'm not gonna tear it down or spend anymore time on it. Even if the block is toast I had 30-40k into the car and there are a lot of parts that remain with significant value. Looking to get 1k out of it and buyer has to pick it up. I assume you'll need a flat bed. I'm located in Bismarck, ND. I essentially had almost every part you could put on the car. I listed the bulk of items below.

Waiver: no guarantees on condition of parts after tonight's episode. You can expect some damage from the coolant boiling. How much I don't know? Some stuff might be toast. Or maybe you fill it up with coolant, minimal damage done, and you got a hell of a deal on the car.

That's horrible man. If I was closer I think I'd grab the whole car. If you decide to part out let me know. On second thought I sent you a pm.

So bummed it ended this way. I loved that car and every summer starting it up was as exciting as the first time I drove it. I built it in memory of my Dad who was a mechanic when I was little. Prior to owning the Tiburon, I had never worked on a car. Lot of great memories.

I'm hoping someone will take the whole car. I don't have the time to part it out. There's a lot of custom, no longer available, parts that should have a lot of worth. The axles were the only set ever made and I don't believe any other tib had upgraded axles. Back in the day when everyone was making big power the axles would snap like toothpicks. My axles are bulletproof.

I’m also interested if you do a part out. I’d love to take the whole thing if I was closer and had the time to pick it up. 1000 is a great deal. You could probably make quite a bit more just parting it out.

Sorry you're right, DC headers with custom ceramic coating. It's been a long time and names of some of the parts slipped my mind. Yeah my intercooler reservoir was gonna be ready this week and it would have been ready to rock.

I agree. I'm not looking to make money off the car. I feel 1k is almost like giving it away. You could easily strip off the DSS Axles, vortech, upper manifold, hydra with harness, and hydra mist. That stuff alone easily get you ~2k. Tranny also has a Quaife LSD in it with <10k. Pretty sure you can't buy the Quaifes anymore. So many great parts on it.

Well, if you decide to part it out. I’ll take the axles and diff and injectors and fuel lines and the control arms.

Terrible news about your car, really enjoyed watching this tib come together. and learned quite a bit from all your posts.

I'm open to taking this on and attempt to give it new life. I'm located in NY, and can coordinate having it picked up.

Do a compression and leak down test one time over heating a little shouldn't kill it mostly since you noticed it

I'm assuming since it stalled out something internally failed. Yeah, 1000 because I'm not looking to make money off of it and if someone buys it and the motor is entirely cooked they can still make way more than their initial investment parting it out.

Does the ecu have a temperature fail safe that could of killed the engine if it got too hot?

I am not aware of ANY OEM ECU that will kill an engine due to high coolant temps.
None......US, Euro, Aisin, nothing. They will let you blow it up if high coolant temp.
Granted, high coolant temp may trip something else that saves the engine, don't Frikkin count on it.

OK......Im still not aware of ANY ECU/piggyback/standalone that shuts the engine down due to high coolant temps.
Maybe a nebulous setting, but not common that I know of.

My original post still stands unless someone knows better than I.
And yes, that is a possibility, we all learn then.

I would love to see him keep it as well as he has helped me with my build and gave me new things to try. But if it ultimately comes to selling I would buy as I've followed his build for years and based mine off of it
