Interesting. Any history of those screws coming loose on anyone?

I think ill bring a bore scope over next time and just make sure its there and solid.
I've never heard of them coming loose in the 15 years I've been active here. If it did come loose it would be due to a rebuild and the P.O. failing to use thread locker. Then if it did come loosebroke you would definitely have forbidden glitter in the oil pan.

From the picture you posted there, that ring looks like its very close to the rear main seal housing. Id imagine its not possible for those screws to back out without making contact with something among other things. That would definitely make a mess

same thing happened recently to my 98 tib. was running smoothly then suddenly it doesnt start and checked everything. turns out i just needed to press brake! which isnt required in my tib before. then i saw that i had no power in my front and tail loghts as well as backlight for the instrument cluster. theres a corroding part on the dashboard that was cutting power somewhere and that fixed it
