Back in April of 06, I was involved in a pretty serious accident involving my 06 TIburon SE with the vin # KMHHN65F86U201789.

This car was traded in at a Toyota Dealership in Daytona, FL by my dad. I ran a carfax on this car and the title STILL comes up clean! There was $8,500.00 in damage done to the whole passenger side of the car, and apparently there is frame damage to the rear end passenger side as well. I already checked and this car has been sold. How come CarFax is still showing this car as a clean title?

because of where you got it repaired... did you report the accident to your insurance company?
The insurance company paid for the repairs on it, and sent it to their body shop for it to be repaired. They should have reported it.

The title comes up clean unless it was actually totaled by your insurance company. If they just fixed it and not totalled it then its still clean. Carfax will report it as the title shows. It will only report an accident if the police file their paperwork to show that. They also claim if it was minor, major, etc. Depends on where your at on how often the cops actually file their paperwork to report wrecks.

Here in Texas it's the responsibility of the owner of the car to report any accidents with the car. Basically, if I'm in an accident I go to an accident reporting station, fill out a form and mail it in. That's how it's registered with the state. I'm not sure if any of the repair shops are responsible for reporting the repair, but I'm pretty sure it's the owner's responsibility.

I got into an accident with my Tiburon , and my car still comes out clean. I reported to the police and insurance company.
OK....

Insurance only will change the carfax if it is totalled

Police will only change Carfax if that is their responsibility, it may be your responsibility. (depends on where you live)
