Hey guys, my 2006 2.0 MT is now getting a cel for p0102.

I bought a new MAF "Before i checked the signal voltage"
Old and new sensor is producing a signal voltage
The ecm side of the harness is getting the signal
Both grounds on the MAF sensor is fine when grounded to the battery or car.
Also the connector is getting battery voltage

I checked the freeze frame, MAF is showing 0, but the IAT is showing data.

The car dies when starting it. It won't idle on its own at first. I have to hold the gas partly open and ease it down and then it would idle around 200rpm and slowly come up to around 700rpm. If i rev it up and nothing else the car just falls on its face and dies..

Revs fine.

Wouldn't the ecm store some sort of data for the MAF? If it was low, it would seem like something would be stored. Same issue for my WSS issue, everything is working and the signal wire gives volts but the ECM isn't processing the data.

Whats the chances of a failing ECM?

The ECU and MAF are constantly working together. If the low voltage is consistent it will throw the code. Say you're at 2000 rpms for example and the ecu is expecting 1.5v, but the maf signal wire is sending it 1.2 volts consistently. This would cause that code.

I checked it again, and after the car has warmed up. The output voltage at the MAF is 1volt holding steady. I can't find a chart for the tiburon, but it doesn't appear to be low compared to other hyundai's.. If the car starts up from sitting over night it will start and run like a champ until its restarted.

I believe a Tib uses a Hotwire MAF, voltage should vary with RPM, low voltage (close or below 1VDC) at low RPM, higher voltage (close to 5VDC) at higher RPM.
If the voltage does not vary, you will get a CEL.

There's a service manual somewhere on this forum that had how to test for that code, maybe you can find it. In order to test signal voltage you have to gradually raise the rpms while checking the maf signal voltage to see if it's where it should be for that rpm value, so kinda requires 2 people. I should have the manual somewhere around if you can't find it.

If you did not buy an OEM Sensor then chances are that's why your having problems. Take a look at your old one and compare it to the new one. Do the sensors inside the housing look the same?

Also did you do any sort of mods before the CEL appeared?

Everything about it looks the same. The "bad one" is a re-manufactured MAF i don't think its OEM either.

No mods, everything is pretty much stock.

Its just weird that it started acting up the same time the WSS cel came on even though everything was fine with it as well.

checked the live data and there isn't any sort of signal coming from the MAF. Voltmeter shows its producing a signal, and the wiring appeared to be fine last time i checked for continuity. I'm at a total lost here..

I did some more digging and it turns out theres a semi-short in one of the wires on ECM side of the connector. I had my live data going and i moved the wires around and the MAF started to show signs of life. I'm not sure if its a bad connection on the connector or a something in the wiring it self.

With almost now room to do anything. How could i track it down better? I would like to fix it but i don't really have to room with everything in its place to even try to do anything. Any advice on how to tackle this?

Hi everyone, I replaced maf sensor after some major issues with vehicle jerking, hesitation on acceleration, flat spot etc. It improve but didn't fix the problem entirely, so I replaced spark plugs, made sure no vacuum leaks and shes running nice. The issue is engine check light has been there from the very start and I can't get rid of it after erasing code P0102 numerous times. I have checked the three pins and 2 are good but I have no 5v signal🤔, doe the ecu need replacing or break in the wires need someone's help on this pls.
