My car has been cranking slower lately, and today the battery is dead. I'm waiting for roadside assistance to come and give me a boost.

The battery is the original battery, and the build date is December 2003, so that battery is about 3 yrs old. Is this pretty much the normal life expectancy of a battery?

I've checked the "Definitive Battery Thread" and everyone seems to be crazy about the Optima yellow-tops. But I'm not running, nor will I be running, any big audio setups. What sort of battery should I get since I don't really need a big amp battery to power subs.

since I don't have any big audio setups (nor do I plan on having one), I'm just thinking of a regular Duralast battery from Autozone. It has 700 cold-cranking amps.

Opinions?

That battery should be fine...I have two 10s and i just recently had to replace my stock battery. I picked up a diehard gold from Sears, I can't remember how many cold-cranking amps it has, but it is definitely getting the job done
