Did you buy the standard or the mini? it is a known issue with the mini that the adapter will fail to communicate with the ECU. check the buyer reviews of the site you are buying it from. I purchased and ELM327 mini from a private seller and had the same issue. However, I returned that one and bought the standard one from DX and it works perfectly. Apps like Torque will actually try to steer you away from "clone" OBD2 readers, and to a point, for good reason. As you and I both found out. lawl. Return that one and but a different one from a reputable seller. Best of luck.
