If you are trying to figure out how a set or rims and tires will fit in your wheel wells, here are some simple examples to help you decide which rim width and offset will look best. I've printed this out and hung it by my computer and as I shop for rims on eBay I can quickly see if a set or rims will be too wide for my fender opening.

My calculations are for 18" rims only, because that's what I intend to put on my Tib, but the diameter shouldn't matter so these should be valid for all diameters. I highly recommend the following link found by Solo2Tib BEST RIM SIZE/OFFSET CALCULATOR to also help you decide.

STOCK RIMS: 17" x 7" Offset 46mm
STOCK TIRES: 215/45-17
STOCK DISTANCE FROM HUB TO WHEEL RIM LIP: 1.7"
STOCK DISTANCE FROM THE HUB TO FENDER LIP: 2.7"

The stock rim/tire setup leaves slightly less than a 1" gap between the rim lip and the inside of the fender lip. So, using some basic math, you will figure out that the distance from the hub to the inside of the fender lip (drawing a perfectly vertical line) is about 2.7". Taking into account that the width of the tire wall is about 0.5".

The rims you choose have to have a "DISTANCE FROM HUB TO WHEEL RIM LIP" value of 2.2" or less. Anything more and you might get some rubbing during hard cornering (unless you have a widebody kit).

Rolling your fender lips (or cutting them off) will give you an additional 0.5" of clearance, meaning the distance from the hub to inside of the fender lip (drawing a perfectly vertical line) will be 2.7" or less.

18" x 7.5" Offset 45mm
215/40-18 (Suggested Tire size)
DISTANCE FROM HUB TO WHEEL RIM LIP: 1.95"

18" x 7.5" Offset 42mm (Most common size for Tibs)
215/40-18 (Suggested Tire size)
DISTANCE FROM HUB TO WHEEL RIM LIP: 2.05"

18" x 7.5" Offset 40mm
215/40-18 (Suggested Tire size)
DISTANCE FROM HUB TO WHEEL RIM LIP: 2.15"

18" x 7.5" Offset 30mm
215/40-18 (Suggested Tire size)
DISTANCE FROM HUB TO WHEEL RIM LIP: 2.35" Possible Rub

18" x 8" Offset 45mm
215/40-18 (Suggested Tire size)
DISTANCE FROM HUB TO WHEEL RIM LIP: 2.2"

18" x 8" Offset 40mm
215/40-18 (Suggested Tire size)
DISTANCE FROM HUB TO WHEEL RIM LIP: 2.4" Possible Rub

18" x 8" Offset 35mm
215/40-18 (Suggested Tire size)
DISTANCE FROM HUB TO WHEEL RIM LIP: 2.6" Rub, unless rolled fender

18" x 8.5" Offset 35mm
225/40-18 (Suggested Tire size)
DISTANCE FROM HUB TO WHEEL RIM LIP: 2.85" Rub, unless rolled fender

18" x 8.5" Offset 30mm
225/40-18 (Suggested Tire size)
DISTANCE FROM HUB TO WHEEL RIM LIP: 3.05" RUB

18" x 9" Offset 35mm
??? (Suggested Tire size)
DISTANCE FROM HUB TO WHEEL RIM LIP: 3.1" RUB

18" x 9" Offset 30mm
??? (Suggested Tire size)
DISTANCE FROM HUB TO WHEEL RIM LIP: 3.3" RUB

Hope this helps!

Re: The NEW "Does it fit" thread

Just to make sure I am readling this correctly, for example:

17x7.0 +35 225/45/17 will fit with no rubbing. Correct? What about on a lowered car?

photo... I am not sure about the offset but I ran a 235(top of tire) / 45(sidewall) / Z(speed rating) R(means 1 spin direction) 17(diameter of rim) on the stock height and didnt have a problem...the 45 stands for 45% of "225" so... I think it = 101.25mm where mine was 105.75... you should have 4.5 millimeters is equal to 0.1771653555 inches... almost no difference

I was worried about the offset, I currently run 225's.

Thanks

Re: The NEW "Does it fit" thread

If Tein S tech can run with 18x8.0 +35 225/40/18
then the prokit should be able to do it as well right?

I just bought IKON GT5 19x8.5 rims with 225/35/19's. My car is the stock hieght not droped.
Just wondering if anyone knows if I will rub at all or if I need to buy spacers for the hubs?
Thanks for the info.

Re: The NEW "Does it fit" thread

whats your offset?

19x8.5 5x114.3 +20/38 225/35R19

That is the specs for my rims, and the offset.

Re: The NEW "Does it fit" thread

does anyone know if 235/55/17 with 17X8 inch rims will fit on a stock 03???
I think it'll rub b/c tall side wall

plus your speedo is gonna be wayyyy off

get like 235-45-17 or 235-40-17

Re: The NEW "Does it fit" thread

So I was looking at a pair of 17x7, 46 offset rims with 215/40/17 tires.

I wanted to check to make sure the set would look good.

that wheel is same size as stock wheel

if you go with shorter sidewall your speedo will be off.....and you'll have bigger gap in between tire and fender

Re: The NEW "Does it fit" thread

18x8 +35 offset with 225/40/18 tires on stock suspension

fits perfectly, no rub at all.

fyi though, i think it also depends on the style design of the wheel. well that's what someone told me. i could be wrong.
