Hello New Tibbers... :grin2:

Paul from the UK here. I'm after a little advice/opinion please.

I've just bought a set of 8x18 wheels, ET40 for my 2005 2.7 Coupe (Tiburon to you guys :)) I'm running completely standard suspension and don't want to cut or roll my arches. Looking at tyres, I know from reading up on here and elsewhere that I'm safe to use 225/40 R18's with no risk of rubbing, but would prefer the slightly fatter 235/40 R18 tyres if possible. Will I get any rubbing with these? I would add, there is never anyone in the back of the car if this makes much difference.

Thanks in advance for your feedback.

Regards, Paul

If you want to be completely safe even 225 are to wide for the rear as you might rub occasionally over the speed bumps and corners. If you are fine with slight occasional rub in the rear 225 is ok, if you want 235 you will have to roll rear fenders for sure. Front should be fine.

Thanks for the prompt reply guys :)

In the event they do rub, I take it we're looking at the wheel arch return/lip, yes?

Out of interest, would 215's never rub then? (Not that I'll be going this route, I don't much like the stretched look)

Please don't hate me for not reading all 72 pages. I read about ten thoroughly and I don't think my setup was in the first chart. I drive an '08 Tiburon GT, stock suspension. I have 17x8 +35 for front, 17x9 +40 rear, with 215/45R17 XL91W Bridgestone Potenzas that are staged to go on. My buddy told me there would be some stretch on the 9's, but does any of this look problematic?

I just saw Jsmith's post, so my fronts should be fine. How about rears? Also, the tires are "low profile" style tires, so is the 9in stretch going to compromise the sidewall height?

You will have a noticeable amount of stretch. but nothing is be worried with.

I already had 225 tires on a 9.75 weel.

But you will have slight rubbing on big bumps though.

I have an 06 GT with stock suspension. I'm looking into getting a set of 18x9's with 235/45 tires (comes with the wheels). In the first post it clearly says they'll rub. Can I roll the fenders enough for em to fit? I'm assuming I'll have to remove the fender liners too right?

*EDIT* Alright, so I've done a little more reading and it seems it's really difficult without some sort of wide body. Is there anyone at all that's gotten em to fit with stock fenders?

I guess I just wanna be 100% sure I'll need overfenders before I buy them.

Also, does anyone run 18s with 45 aspect ratio? Do the tires look too big on the car?
