Just had my headers put on, the exhasut guy said someone (ie the dealership) stripped one of the bolts on the altenator.

He ended up having to pull the whole thing out to get the bolt out.

I noticed after I picked up the car that my volt gauge is only reading 13v when it should be at 14v

When i got to work I checked the battery with a volt meter (with the car running) and it was only at 12.9-13v. I put a new battery in about a week ago and checked it then and it was at about 14.2v

So somethings gone wrong during the header install.

Does anyone have any ideas what would make the altenator produce less power?

Im going back this afternoon but any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks

yes and no lol

maybe your alternator is going out.
sounds like loose wires or maybe a bad ground. check your wires and then if still no change it maybe a bad alt
+1 if he stripped an alternater bolt he must have taken it off, so it could easily be a loose wire or bad connection.

Turns out the connection on the alternator was a little loose, all fixed now.

Thanks 03natib & 6speedtiburon_silver for the advice.
