Hello, I have a 2.0L 07 SIII which is quoted as having a range of 422 miles but I only ever get to 300 with very economical driving. Is this normal or is there a technical fault somewhere that is causing this?

Search. Been discussed 1000 times. Miles per tank means nothing unless you track how many gallons (liters, whatever) you're actually putting in and how many miles you've driven to need that much put in. Do that for awhile and then see what MPG you're actually getting.

Could be many things....

Needs a tuneup
Low tire pressure
Dragging brakes
City or highway driving

How many miles on it?

Our 2004 2.7L ran min 20's MPG on the highway.

Check the Intake Air Temperature Sensor and Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor, if they are not functioning correctly they will make the engine throw more air/fuel and it could affect the MPG.

Both of them are fairly easily to replace and read. With a regular OBD2 Tool, you can see if the car is reading the right temperatures.
