2008 Tiburon GS 2.0 A/T

My Tiburon has been parked for the winter but I'm going to be trying to fix it up for the road here very shortly I need help with the issue that it was when it was parked was it wasn't starting right intermittently and I believe it had something to do with the security system and amongst many discussions that have had and research I'm planning on ordering a computer and BCM from the states cuz there's apparently no security system on the ones from the states but my question is if I order the computer from the states does the BCM have to match the computer that came out of the car like it at the both of them have to be from the same car or can I order any BCM from the states in any computer from the states I thought about getting my computer flashed but I have no idea who doesn't near me.

The ECU does not have to match the BCM on IMMO and non-IMMO cars. The IMMO circuit is exclusively inside of the BCM. The ECU on IMMO cars has a line of code that waits for the "all OK" signal from the BCM before starting so you still need a US ECU to complete the delete.

You can keep your current keys and key cylinder but you will still need to pay a shop or locksmith to reprogram your FOBs to unlock the car.

US cars are 99.99% non-immo. Only exception would be if the car was imported from Canada or the customer ordered IMMO when they bought it from the dealer originally. Your odds of buying an IMMO BCM or ECU from a US seller are slim to none. Keep in mind that the US Federal emissions standard is different from the emissions standard Canada uses... so using a US ECU may invalidate your emissions.

You will need an automatic ECU from 05 and newer. 07/08 will retain your traction control but an older 05-06 may delete traction control. You can tell the difference between manual and auto based on the length of the ECU (auto is longer) and whether the small half of the ECU socket has the 40 pins or not. The label will also say 5WY4 below the Siemens label if it is an auto.

I've assisted a handful of Canadian cars in switching to non-IMMO but I've only ever had one US client that had IMMO and his car was imported from Canada.

Check out savagescotty on YouTube regarding resetting your ecm. I had a similar problem, was able to do it myself in less than 20 minutes and with no out of pocket cost. I swear that my 03 Tib runs like new. I hope this helps.
