i think the reason most people do it is so they will have fresh cylinder walls again

which is mostly the reason i'm gonna do it,

you obviously gain SOME displacement but i dont know how much of a difference that makes

How can it make fresh cylinder wall? Could you tell me the principle?
I really dont understand the piston bore stuff.....

Kinda just like resurfacing the pavement on the interstate, if ya catch my drift. Aside from the benefit of slightly higher displacement, and new walls, the only other reason you would increase engine bore is to replace the stock pistons with larger ones for greater or lesser compression ratios (Depending on if your Forced Induction or Naturally Aspirated)

well, boring a cylinder is basically scraping the inside of the cylinder to take off material, so the beat up surface is taken off and you get untouched metal...

does that make it clearer?
