Hi everyone I have a 2008 Hyundai Tiburon gs and from the time I purchased this car it has always struggled with the power steering I’ve put a new pump on and it worked for awhile but now the issue is back especially during cold weather.
On a cold day, have a helper and do a test.
Hood open, engine running, helper turns the steering wheel lock to lock while you listen. A slipping belt will chirp/squeal at high load.
What power steering fluid are you using? If you are using generic "import PSF" or ATF you are prematurely wearing your components or cooking the ATF.
The correct fluid is Hyundai PSF-3 or PSF-4. The generic stuff causes the pump to strain and ATF like Dexron III will cook at the higher temps and pressures inside our power steering systems.
