okay i don't feel like spending money if i don't have to. i found some speaker wire meant for a home entertainment system that we no longer use. can i use this for subs? looks like it should work. the guage looks a little smaller guage than usual. just wondering if it'll burn up or anything. thanks

In my opinion you could probably get away with thinner wire in most cases. I really don't know how much current subwoofers can draw. My calcularions seem to think that a 1000W rms system is only going to draw about 80 amps, assuming a car battery can actually source that much continuously. I regularily draw 150A + through 12gauge wire in other projects of mine and there never seems to be a problem, but then again its only for a few minutes at a time.
