Removing old vinyl from tail lights

I’ve had Staw’s original red out vinyl on my tail lights since 2007. As you can see from the pic these are way past their prime. I ordered new red outs from someone on eBay but I’m not sure on the easiest way to remove the old vinyl. I’m not sure if goo gone or something like that will be good enough. Any advice?

Heat gun or hair drier and a soft plastic scraper should work. Just don't melt the taillights if you use an actual heat gun.

I'd try some goo gone and a plastic scraper. It works pretty well on stickers and such, and won't damage the paint if it drips down on the bumper etc. Just rub it in with your fingers and let it soak for a bit, then get after it.

We used de-solv-it to remove the thick vinyl glue on my friend's tail light.

I have both but maybe I’ll use a hairdryer to be safe.

I think I’ll try a hair dryer, then the goo gone with a scraper.

I haven’t heard of de-solv-it. I’ll have to see how it compares with goo gone.
