Satelite radio antenna...Where & How?

Well, I decided to get a new nicer XM receiver for my car. With the old antenna I simpily put it on the shelf that covers the trunk area. The reception was ok, but I lost the signal easily. I would like to mount the antenna on the roof (Where it's supposed to be). For those of you that have done this, where exactily did you put the antenna and how did you run the wire? Most of all, i want a cleen looking install.

It was a PIA. I had mine mounted on the roof, but to get there I took the headliner and A Pillars off. Not a single wire in sight. Run the wire up the A Pillar across the roof the and out. It looks really good just time consuming and for some damn reason I broke 2 of those plastic clips on the molding. IMO it looks and works the best for reception as well, but I must warn you. Where the antenna was the paint started to fade away, so that is something to think about before putting on your roof as I did. Remember sand and what not can get under there like a bra and cause issues. With mine I would take it off and clean under there every time I would wash my car, but it still faded and got scratched. I have seen people put it on their dash and it worked pretty well

I have my XM antenna on the front dash on the very left corner as to not be an eyesore. I get perfect reception. There is absolutely no need for it to be on the outside of the car like the directions say.
I decided to use the same spot for my antenna. It's on the rear shelf in the back window. It works great there. I just used some velcro to hold it in place. The antenna is so much smaller than my old one...lol. like 1/20th the size :). Thanks for the suggestions guys!
