asking the guy some questions and he pulled out a book and started looking through it to find some part numbers, and mumbled under his breath that the transmission in my car must be out of a mazda. He said he was not sure but the numbers in his book for my 04 6spd. looked similer to those from a mazda. I didnt really think a whole lot about it until i got home. But is the 6spd. trans from a mazda? Or based off one?

With Ford owning a nice size piece of Mazda, I doubt it...

The 6 speed is from a company named Aichi http://www.aichikikai.co.jp/english/
Look for MFA60 in the transmission section It is used in a multitude of cars like the Nissan Altima,sentra, X-trail the Ford Escape, Maverick the Mazda 6, Tribute and the Hyundai Tiburon.
