I've always wondered the difference in the high and low wings. I've noticed a small trend of the automatics to have a low and the manuals having a high, but it doesn't fit in all cases. Also the GT vs. non GT has never helped...so how exactly is the height of the spoiler determined?

Thanks!

depends on the package and the year of the car. I noticed a lot of 2003 GT Tibs had low wings and 16" rims. In 2004 when I got my GT auto, it came with 17" rims and the high spoiler. Now all the SE ones come with the High wings and the V6 models all come with 17" rims I think. A lot varies into it.

as far as '05 and up, the SE are the only ones I believe that come with the high wing. Previous to that, I think it was determined by whether or not you had the GT package with the 6 speed or the 5 speed (this was eventually differentiated by the SE). So if you have a six speed package with the torque, volt, etc. gauges, you probably have a high wing. All of the 4 cyl. should come with the low wing. Also, some people place either after market high wings on, or get them off of others that don't want their high wing.

It's different for different years. Trans has nothing to do with either as far as I can tell.

2003:
- GS = no wing standard; low wing optional; 16" wheels only
- GT = low wing standard; high wing optional; 16" wheels standard; 17" wheels optional

2004:
- GS = low wing only; 16" wheels only
- GT = high wing standard; 17" wheels standard
- SE = high wing standard; 17" wheels standard

2005:
- GS = low wing only; 16" wheels only
- GT = high wing standard; 17" wheels standard
- SE = high wing standard; 17" wheels standard

2006:
- GS = low wing only; 16" wheels only
- GT = low wing only; 17" wheels standard
- GT Limited = low wing only; 17" wheels standard
- SE = high wing standard; 17" wheels standard

2007:
- GS = low wing only; 16" wheels only
- GT = low wing only; 17" wheels standard
- GT Limited = low wing only; 17" wheels standard
- SE = high wing standard; 17" wheels standard

My first tib was an 05 I4 5 speed and came with the 17" rims. It all really comes down to the dealership. Mine was the showroom car and was all prettied up.
