well its starting to get damn cold up in VT and ive noticed my idle when i start the car surges for about 30 seconds then holds at the normal idle speed. any ideas?

That's because the car is cold. its the computerized version of a choke.
If you want it to go away just blip the throttle and it will go back to normal idle.
thanx to my good olde canadian winters i get this constantly.
its pretty ***.

It's normal, just the block warming up.

One of these days when someone hosts a canada wide meet we will have to get all of the 4 cyl tibs together and all have a race to see who can get their choke to go off first without touching anything.
