I have a question, why does our motors generally have louder valve noise then most cars. I know I have large Injectors, which will add to the clicking, but with the valves themselves why are they usually loud? I heard someone say the Beta motors are known for this, but why is that?

The Beta has solid lifters, as opposed to hydraulic which are less noisy. The upside is that you can rev higher and run hotter cams than with hydraulic lifters. If you have cams with high ramp rates and try to rev them out the oil in the lifter may aerate and cause the lifter to go solid and extend all the way. Thats very bad and may cause some serious valvetrain damage when the valvesprings bottom out.

Because the Beta2 uses solid lifters rather than hydraulic. The noise is lifter tick, and it diminishes as the car warms up.

The above peeps are all right but there is a difference between "normal" lifter noise and "abnormal" lifter noise. Go buy a feeler gauge and check your tolerances.
