Volvo 740Turbo Wagon- the car i spent many hours in telling my mom to upshift already, lol. fun to drive. RWD+turbo= good times. push button 5th gear.. weird. learned the fine art of powersliding, and jumping moguls like a WRC ace. met an unfortunate death at the hands of a ford bronco II that somehow appeared out of nowhere on a blindingly sunny august day. sad. i would buy another in a heartbeat, that car saved my life.
Saab 900- bulletproof motor and trans. the car of my youth. quite possible the wierdest production car ever. no power windows, door locks, leather alloys or anything remotely luxury about it. lots of high times had in that lil beastie. 3 speed auto. wow, it was slow! the auto trans and troubled electrical system finally started to give out at 240k miles.. sold to a saab enthusiast for parts..
Ford Ranger ext cab- do not buy a rwd pickup when you live in new england, LOL. aside from the fact that it simply refused to go in the snow, it was fairly good transport, no real troubles. it was seasick green with a purple and pink pinstripe, LOL. the 3.0L V6 was actually pretty decent. i had planned to keep it to build into a 5.0 powered monster, but then i remembered that i have virtually no mechanic skills. SOLD!
Ford Contour SE- i really liked this car, actually. it was the 1st body style with the Duratec V6 thats still in production today. it was an auto, but it was respectably quick even by todays standards. it had a nice interior with grippy power leather front buckets, and every option available at the time. the back seat had virtually no legroom for a 4 door. awful time trying to make out with chicks back there, lol. the auto tranny finally gave out at 170k-ish and traded it in for...
Ford Escort ZX2- this was where i caught the mod bug. these little cars are actually much more fun than their escort name would have you believe. i started with a set of rims, and eventually had an intake, exhaust, homemade sts, cf taillights and such. it was also the 1st car i built a real audio system for. i had polk dx full range speakers all around, cadence tweeters on the dash, 2 polk dx 12 subs, a cadence z4000 4 channel and a soundtream sub amp. it was effin loud. got rid of it b/c i wanted something with a V6 and more luxury/classiness.
VW Jetta VR6- worst car ever. bought it used off a hyundai dealer with 30k on it. i figured 30k isnt much for a VW since they seem to have long lives. wrong. this think popped a cel as i drove it off the dealers lot and continued to breed electrical and mechanical gremilns the entire time i owned it. it blew a radiator hose at 30k that cost nearly 400 and took 2 1/2 days to fix. i was stranded 4 states away from my home at the time. awesome. thanks VW. i finally got so fed up with bringing it back to the hyundai dealer that i asked for my money back. they actually were pretty accomodating, and i think they were well aware that the car was garbage. they asked me to look around their used lot before we started talking about a buy-back. and there she was... my.....
Tib. V6, 5 speed and 3000 miles. perfect. havent looked back since!
