ok guys the time is rapidly getting away from me here, but i figured its time to start an official thread for this meet. heres the nitty gritty-
Black Rock State Park http://dep.state.ct.us/STATEPARKS/parks/blackrock.htm
Watertown, CT
technically the park is in watertown, CT. its actually right on the town line between thomaston and watertown and less than a 1/4 mile from my house. since its a public park, i dont see any reason why we cant be there, we are the public and we can use it just as much as anyone else. but there are some rules we need to follow in order to keep the rangers off our backs and the fuzz at bay.
1. there is no booze allowed inside the park. it sucks i know, but its their rule and were going to have to respect it. there will be plenty of time for partying later in the day, as there is a bar very near by and my house right there too. i wont be able to accomodate everyone since its just a condo, but the bar i mentioned is inside a bowling alley, and its actually not that expensive as far as bowling goes. there are motels in the area too in case someone doesnt feel like making the trip home, asi said i would offer my house as accomodations, but its very small and i basically just have a couch.
2. rangers dont like burnouts, excessive revving, or any manner of automotive horseplay. its a scientific fact. i think everyone here is smart enough to know that, i just thought id mention it. and yes, like partying there will be plenty of time for that later in the day. there are some great roads around here for cruising. just STAY OFF the highway if youre going to speed/race or whatever. the cops are friggin omnipresent out there. they are bored and they will get you.
3. food- there are bbq pits and picinic tables available, but if someone wanted to bring a small grille or something (in a tib, lololol) that would be fine too. basically, im looking to have sort of a potluck here. bring whatever you want to bring and everyone will share and enjoy. im going to get some meat and rolls etc, but you can never have too much meat at a cookout, lol.
so thats about it! now im going to make a list and update it as people confirm that theyre coming. im goin to take some liberties here and put a few names up. i think you guys are definitley down, but post up if you want to go! and ill put together some general directions from mass and points north and NY and points south in the coming days, as we know how mapquest can suck at times. and you guys can get your caravans together here too.
