I saw this thing on Speed Freak's site and was wondering if anyone else had noticed it, and if anyone has any real world info about the durability and performance of something like this? For the money, if it works, it seems like a decent alternative to dropping a "G" on a complete LSD. IDK?? Just thought I'd throw it out there and see what the consensus was.

Its the sentra spec v LSD shimmed to fit the Tib. Yes, it works. Search around, I know there are discussions about it on here

OH im retarded. I thought you had asked about the RRM one not speadfreak.But it isn't an LSD from the looks of it, just a block that mounts in the tranny??

Dont buy ANYTHING from speed freak. Search around and you will find tons of people that had to file paypal claims (myself included) since they never communicate or ship ANYTHING

Yeah, unfortunately I've read the general opinion of Speed Freak. Well, that sux cause for $229 that little gadget seems like it would be a nice cost effective mod/upgrade, but I don't feel like donating $229 to the Phantom Parts Fund, then have to file a claim months later.:3_headsha

That's exactly what it cost me to get mine installed ($200, and I removed and reinstalled the trans). I received mine from speed freak within 10 days, and it works great. I've had it in for 13K miles now with no problems. Pretty much exactly the same as the phantom grip insert.the problem is these are more expensive to isntall..(with tranny out by urself ur still talkin a 200 dollar install..thats why the road race unit is more appealing to meor if ur baller status the Quaife
My transmission guy said a full lsd would have been quite abit more to install because you have to go back through all of the solder crush tests in order to get the shimming just right.
A good time to get it done is when you're planning to replace your clutch at the same time.

Both you have to open the tranny anyway so for half the cost you can do the same, the bad part is that speedfreak is the only one that has them for the 5 speed, ...i think that the phantom grip #903 fit our 5 speeds, but that info needs to be corrected.the problem is these are more expensive to isntall..(with tranny out by urself ur still talkin a 200 dollar install..thats why the road race unit is more appealing to me
i'm lookin at gettin the Quaife LSD for mine. the shop i go through said they could get it for me for whatever THEY have to pay (they're an authorized dealer) and then i'd just pay install... which is fine cause i don't mes around too much with transmissions.... lol don't trust myself enough to take them apart

Just like AF_Tib, I didn't feel comfortable taking the whole transmission apart myself. I've never done it, and I didn't want to start with a brand new trans. My car only had 2K miles on it when I had it installed. :3_headsha

You should see if the shop would do a group buy for these if they can get them for cheap. I know I'd like to jump in (depending how much it is less than the website list. (550 British punds = $1,113).

I've got a Phantom Grip on the shelf, was gonna sell it, but the more I drive my car on boost, the more I think I should pull the tranny and put it in. I was gonna do it when I pulled the engine for the clutch and headers, only had a weekend to do the whole thing, so the tranny didn't get done, but the part sitting on the shelf is starting to bug me, I do have a CD trans break down, (Nissan Sentra), so maybe next year.....

Im a nissan tech, the sentra spec v is about i think 01, 02,03,04,05 maybe, so they all had the lsd, but thats all it is, these inserts, how do they do what they do, and ill find out tomorro at work if i can order them and for how much....cause damn thats cool if its all i need....more info plz...
